“A few vets out for a few miles for NC100 mile challenge ”

Carvers Creek State Park
Attraction details

We met up and walked the trail. A few vets brough dogs. It was a great morning to walk. The air was cool and just a slight breeze. We took the big loop around the park and we passed a few other people. We had a great time and got some miles for the NC 100 mile challenge.

This is a very small park for a state park but the Rockefeller mansion is beautiful and well worth the trip. You learn so much about the history of the property. I cant imagine how gorgeous it will be once they fix the dam and get the lake back. Go see the cedar trees in the shallow water...gorgeous.

Hurricane Matthew caused damage to the park in Oct 2016 so the lake area was empty and some areas were inaccessible; however, the place is beautiful and quiet. The trail is in/out and very easy.

The lady in the office deserves a raise! She was so helpful and nice to us! This park was very well kept. I was impressed! Can't imagine how awesome it would be if the lake was still there.. the dam broke in 2016 and now the lake/pond is dry. We will be going back this weekend to tour the Rockefeller mansion.

This is one of the newest NC State Parks and is still being developed. The person in the office was friendly and helpful. We walked down the sandy road to the Rockefeller House, about 1/2 each way. The road is out in the open but had we continued the loop back to the office we would have been in a shaded area. There is not much to explain the significance of the House and that Mr Rockefeller donated the land for the Park. There is another short trail from the house to the pond. The Park was easy to find. The last 1/2 mile to the office is not paved but no problem for a car.
