My hubby and I stayed here on the last 2 nights of a multi-stop busy vacation from Savannah to the mountains and back home to Florida. This was a lovely, quiet, area which was a bit "quieter" than we knew it would be as we didn't realize it was still "off season" (end of February) and alot of the restaurants and attractions nearby were not open. Our check in at the front desk was smooth and helpful as we were provided with a map and instructions to get around to some of the waterfalls in the area, which is what we wanted to go see. The hotel entry area is spectacular with a huge stone fireplace and wood beams and an amazing large high top live edge wood table with high stools to sit at in the breakfast area/lobby. We looked out at the pool area which looked VERY clean and well kept, although we didn't use it during our stay. Our King room with mountain view was clean and spacious with a sofa and convenient wet bar area with table and fridge. The view was of the side of a small mountain next to the hotel, including the parking lot - which we didn't mind since we could keep an eye on our vehicle. The complimentary breakfast was perfect. Hot cooked eggs, sausage, muffins, bagels, fruits, yogurts, juices, etc. and a nice coffee bar with flavored creamers and hot...My hubby and I stayed here on the last 2 nights of a multi-stop busy vacation from Savannah to the mountains and back home to Florida. Hot cooked eggs, sausage, muffins, bagels, fruits, yogurts, juices, etc. and a nice coffee bar with flavored creamers and hot chocolate and tea options. Breakfast was was always quiet and never busy (it just the 2 of us both mornings we went down - however it was the middle of the week). The lady tending to the breakfast area kept everything immaculately clean and tidy and all the food bins filled with fresh hot foods. I knew ahead of time about the next door tapas restaurants (Table 64 and the Cork & Barrel - both owned by same owner, with similar yet different menus) and I highly recommend both places. Cork & Barrel is a bit more laid back, casual and Table 64 is a little more upscale. Both serve fun and phenomenal tapas style items so you can order several things and share amongst your table. Luckily both places were open during our visit and we frequented each place for dinner both evenings we were there. They are so close you can even walk from the Hampton. This hotel was a perfect homebase to go explore waterfalls, parks, mountain views, drive the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, eat and adventure and have a quiet place to come back to with everything you need. The only "hiccup" for us was not the fault of the hotel, but a learning experience for us, in that - for the first time ever - we accidently left behind a garment bag hanging in the closet with several of our dressy/best clothes inside it. It struck my husband after we left and were almost home on our drive to Florida that we didn't have that bag. We immediately called the Hampton and were assisted by a woman who took our info and agreed to have the bag shipped to our home address for us. Very helpful. Unfortunately, another first for us in that UPS lost the shipment and we never got our bag and our good clothes back. Made a claim with UPS which had to go through the hotel as the claimant (since they were the shipper), which meant that they had to be my contact point in dealing with UPS for the claim. The manager, Mary, took alot of her busy time out to assist me with calls and emails to UPS and in handling paperwork back and forth between us, through the closing and payment by UPS of our claim. We still took a loss, but none of this was the fault of the hotel. In fact, by assisting with our claim I feel they went above and beyond the already friendly professional service they provided at the hotel, to treat me and my issue with respect and importance. I knew that a Hilton property wouldn't let me down! Will definitely stay here again if ever in the beautiful Sapphire area. Thanks Hampton.More
