All part of the beach is not for swimming. You need to see the board of public access and go there. There is fine if you swim at the wrong part. There is parallel road beside beach, beach house near by it, make this beach beautiful.

Best beach to swim. OBX beaches are so long that you won't find crowded at all. You can swim, kayak-surf, do water sports. Get down and have some relaxing moment.

Last year when we went here we thought we had found the ideal place to take our grandkids the next time we vacationed here. This year we took our grand children here and they were having a great time. While the grandkids played my husband walked up the beach around the curve of the beach. Beyond the vision from the beach, erosion has exposed the concrete crypt of 2 graves that are in the very water that my grandkids are in! What the heck!!!! We pulled the kids out of the water and head to the changing rooms to get out of the wet suits. The area is supposed to be open till dusk. Still 15 minutes till the sun sets and the bathrooms are locked. The changing rooms are unlocked as the locks have been broken off of them. We stand guard at the outside of the doors while the kids change. The stench of the bathroom over powers the changing rooms as the pit toilets are on the other side of the wall in the same small structure. When we got to rinse our feet at the outdoor faucet, my husbands steps just off the concrete pad and his bare feet are impaled by small cactus plants hidden within the grass! Watch your little ones to make sure they don't go off the safety of the concrete pad!!!! Lastly as we walk back to our car we see a dead rat by the sidewalk as well as more of the cactus plants among the grass and goose droppings every where!!!!!! This place is free and in a nice location so it's a shame that the day use area is not being maintained and for pity sake those graves need to be taken care of. Whoever takes care of these areas should be ashamed!

This beach was quiet and small but perfect for relaxing. There is a grass area which has picnic tables and then it goes to a beach area perfect for reading a good book.

We went here after a rainy morning and it was a bit cool heading there, but the dunes blocked the wind once we got on the beach. The waves were somewhat scary for our nine year old, so put his life jacket on, but it wasn't as rough as further south.

It wasn't crowded and we enjoyed our time there, swimming, boogie boarding, walking and finding shells.

Very central to the northern OBX and Hatteras/Ocracoke areas. Perfect location for day trips Lots of activities on sound side or ocean side. Almost no commercialization here. Great family beach and perfect for family reunions.
