Description: Small seasonal menu of Northern Vietnamese-influenced cuisine. The focus is on local produce, most of which is grown in the family vegetable and herb garden. The business also boasts the most comprehensive wine list in South Australia, with international focus on wines that harmonise with the subtly spiced Asian cuisine. Don't expect to find a large listing of the sweet-fruited highly-charged and alcoholic Barossa Shiraz's, but you will find pages and pages of Champagne, German Riesling, White and Red Burgundy, Beaujolais, as well as the most comprehensive listing of wines from new and exciting local Barossa, Clare and Adelaide Hills producers. A wine pilgrim's paradise established for the local wine making community, many of whom are seen each night enjoying dinner at fermentAsian. Note that the wine list was awarded the top wine list award in Australia in the gourmet Traveller Wine List of the Year awards in July 2016.

We had the tasting menu, which was lovely. We especially loved the betel leaves and coconut chicken salad. A perfect balance of flavors and just the right amount of spiciness. The wine list is immense and we got some help choosing a great Riesling. Quite a few of our friends have recommended fermentAsian to us, so we had high expectations and were not disappointed. Great service as well.

Tuoi and her staff went over and above expectations during our visit to FermentAsian. Our group chose the chefs tasting menu and special dietary requirements for one person in the group were easily accommodated. The food was incredible, and the service first rate. I wouldn’t fault anything. Definitely worth a visit but don’t forget to book ahead.

Went here on the advice of friends who recommended it; we're glad we did. The food is excellent and the Canadian waiter who served us was knowledgeable and friendly.

We went for the Chef's Special at $75 per head which can consist of 3 entrees and 3 mains OR 3 entrees, 2 mains, and a dessert; we went for the 3 and 3 figuring we'd do dessert if we had room for it.

The combination we had was...

Fresh betel leaves with sticky caramelised Hampshire pork and incendiary components
Hanoi Spring Rolls with fresh herbs and classic Vietnamese dipping sauce
Grilled SA prawns, sweet green mango, chia seeds

followed by...

Salad of coconut-poached chicken breast, cabbage and macadamias
Barossa Hampshire pork belly with ginger and orange sauce
SA Snapper with dill and turmeric

A little more expensive than your average fare but well worth it if you're visiting the area.

A solid 9 out of 10 for me.

We ordered 4-5 small meals and 1 Main with some rice. All the meals were fresh and yummy. Some really good flavours. All meals were brought out quickly. The restaurant is located in a good spot and a close drive to where we were staying at the Novetel Barossa

If we could we would rate this 6 stars. A lovely venue, lovely vibe, friendly and attentive staff. Food was WOW... Had the tasting menu and all 3 starters and 3 mains were fantastic. Beautiful aromas and wonderful tasting. We ordered 4 random glasses of wine off the huuuuuge wine list and all 4 were lovely.
A really great evening.
