I have been to Big Ed's numerous times. And honestly speaking the food is delicious and authentic. If you want mama's cooking at restaurant convenience then you will love this place.

Came across Big Ed’s in an article listing Raleigh as one of 20 American cities with the best food scene right now. There was a line when we arrived, and we expected a long wait, but we were pleasantly surprised with how efficiently the staff got everyone seated. They definitely had things running like a well-oiled machine!

I ordered the Cajun Fried Chicken and eggs, along with grits and a biscuit. I was hoping my chicken would be a bigger, but man was it yummy! It was well seasoned and fried to perfection. The grits were not seasoned at all, but I understand having folks handle that themselves. Another order was placed for the catfish plate, as well as a veggie omelet with turkey sausage. Everyone was quite satisfied with their meals.

Lastly, the service was impeccable! Nothing beats that southern hospitality. Our server was absolutely sweet and attentive to our needs. Would definitely take a trip back. May be brave enough to try those humongous pancakes next time.

Stopped by Big Ed’s for an 11am breakfast and had to wait in line. Obviously a good sign. 10 minute wait and we were at our table looking at a varied southern style breakfast and lunch menu. Red eye gravy, grits, home made sausage, biscuits, etc. Had the Western omelet with home fries and wheat toast. Thumbs up! Wife had a biscuit sandwich with bacon and son had traditional breakfast that included their homemade sausage links. Very tasty! Coffee kept coming and the food was very good. Highly recommend!

Great country breakfast food. I will come back here. I got the sausage and cheese omelet and the home fries are seasoned and so good.

We were looking for a breakfast venue this weekend in Raleigh. Trip Advisor said Big Ed's was the place. It was right. There is a reason for the lines!!
