We have a Bahama Breeze in our home town, so this was a first visit to the Raleigh version. Decor was typical BB, and the menu was the same. Their coconut shrimp was good as usual but I wish they had shrimp cocktail sauce! Ours at home does not either, so we bring a bottle with us to our local restaurant. When we arrived we were told that Happy Hour was in session...but then found out that did not apply to drinks, only appetizers. Disappointed in that. Also, we were a group of about 12 but the would not seat us at a common table. We were split up into three groups. Not what we had in mind. So, nothing outstanding about the visit, but somewhat disappointing. Sorry about that.

I've only been to one other Bahama Breeze and it was in Florida several years ago. Had lunch at their Raleigh location yesterday while in town on business. Nice surprise and I wish there was one near where I lived. Impressive drink menu. A lot of great food items also. I especially liked the wide selection of fish and other healthier options. Good service. I'll go back for sure if in the area again.

Taking good friends to a chain restaurant brand on a Saturday evening we had visited in another city, I was confident we would have a good experience. Wrong. We arrived on time with the requisite reservation and were moved quickly through the double check in process (there were many groups trying to get a table and being advised it would be 1 1/2 hour wait.) First thing I noticed was that about 30% of the tables in the large restaurant were vacant. Strange--long wait for a table without reservations and plenty of open tables.

We were promptly seated and had menus. In a few minutes our wait person appeared and said she would be back shortly. When she returned, 10 minutes later, we had had time to figure out what we wanted to eat and to order drinks. Twenty minutes later, one glass of wine appeared and a side salad the other couple had ordered. The person who delivered the single glass of wine said he did not know anything about the three missing drinks. No wait person in sight. A bright shirted man passed by a few minutes later and we asked if he was the manager and he confessed that he was. We told him our saga of 30 minutes and one drink--he said he would take care of it. Five minutes later he was back with one more drink and disappeared.

10 minutes later, nearly an hour into the ordeal, we had two drinks and a side salad to show for our time investment. We got up to leave and the people sitting next to us said they had been there an hour and a half and still did not have their food and wished they had left earlier. The night was not a total loss. Down the street was a good restaurant with excellent service and food and we had an enjoyable meal and plenty to discuss.

Dwayne was one of the best waiters we've every had--anywhere. He made sure we were very satisfied, and when we weren't, as with my bland pineapple creme brulee, he comped us. We had thick, juicy steaks, great mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli, and memorable tropical drinks. What a drink menu! Great ambience, too. HIGHLY recommended.
