We have come to the Outer Banks every Summer as a family, for over 40 years. I came as a baby, and now have 4 kids of my own. We were looking for a place that would make everyone happy (including my parents, now in mid-70s) and this restaurant was EXCELLENT. The kids menu was as expected, but also included steak (which my kids LOVED). They had all of the basic seafood offerings (friend platters, etc), but my mother was happy to order her very favorite: lobster rolls. I tried their fish special (salmon with Gouda grits cake and broccolini), and it was SO GOOD. Also, their she crab soup was the best creamy soup I've tasted in a long time. The adults ate well, and so did the kids (11, 10, 7, and 7). The hush puppies are great, and so we're the onion rings- and everyone left happy (which is a difficult achievement most of the time). The view of the sound is beautiful, and the view includes water activities (paddle boarding, parasailing, etc.) and other things to please everyone. Kids enjoyed the people/action, and adults enjoyed the bridge and waterscape. We will definitely be going back!
