This resort would be perfect for golfers... not much for sightseeing like we like to do. I specifically asked about steps to and in the condo... they asked if I could handle 6 steps... I said sure fine... found when we got there, the master bed/bath had 20 steps to the basement. Getting anywhere in the mountains is tough ((takes longer then you think) but beautiful. We visited Chimney Rock and Broad River.... very nice. We thought by the name, we would be on Lake Lure... not so much... couldn't see it from our view and access...

We were new to this area and also had an interesting trip trying to find this resort. It is tucked away in the mountains and the signs were not the greatest. Once we found it and our bearings it was so worth the trip. The scenery was incredible, the lake beautiful and every trip an adventure. You absolutely need a car to go anywhere and we learned to plan our trips during the day and be back by dark, those winding dark mountain roads are really a challenge at night. We stayed in the Fox Run townhouse units. There were stairs, stairs and more stairs but we got our exercise and really enjoyed the peace and quiet and solitude.. The unit was three level, clean and updated. The master suite was in the lowest level. The master bath was large with a jetted tub and a really narrow shower and single sink and toilet, the other bedroom was on the entry level with a full bath and the kitchen was on the third level with a dining room and living room. Each level had a nice deck with chairs and a beautiful view of the mountains. We are not golfers but the courses looked great and were very busy in October. Don't miss a tour of the lake, we took the lunch cruise and stopped at Larkins for really awesome ribs! We also did the Biltmore, the flowering bridge and spent some time in the lake swimming. The pools were closed as was the lazy river. The lake was clean and sandy and you could see your feet and the fish. We ate at the Lakeview restaurant three times because we could not get enough of their rib eye steaks. We also did the prime rib buffet. The most incredible prime rib and salmon I can remember. Make reservations if you want to eat there so you can sit in the dinning room. We will definitely go back there.

Room Tip: the townhouse units have a lot of stairs both in the unit and access to it. There are units with easier access.

Beautiful area! So much to do, golf coarse was great, pool, beach etc. two great restaurants one overlooking the golf coarse & the other has great views of Lake Lure. Our room was ok but needs updating We would definitely want to go back again next year. Everyone was very accommodating.

Finding this place is freightful! . We were lost for hours because the GPS just died in the middle of the narrow curvy roads, which had way too few signs. No cell phone service in the mountains either! The condo was fine, nothing spectacular but very adequate. To the newby to this area, it seems like 3 or 4 different resorts are all connected and have different names. Condo numbers are mixed and do not follow any logical sequence----finding your nest within this Resort is also a daunting task, especially in the dark.
If you like green and more green and golf than this place will be heaven for you. Folks who worked there were very nice, but then this State just may be the kindest place on earth! Take the Lake tour from the resort, very worthwhile. We hoped that we could visit Asheville easily from here-----no such luck. It is just too far on really tough, often rainy, roads to commute. If you want solitude with very little around you, this is your place. If you want to visit Asheville, stay there, not Lake Lure.

We traveled here not familiar with much in the area (picked it from my sister's timeshare options). We traveled with 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 younger kids. The condo was great! Very well maintained. Great facilities. It takes a while to travel anywhere from the resort due to the mountains! But it wasn't too bad. We were able to visit Chimney Rock, Zipline, White water raft, tour biltmore and go horseback riding with the longest drive being approx 1.5 hrs. Beautiful beach area, kayak rentals, tennis courts and pools! Service was very slow for lunch at one of the on site restaurants. The only thing we weren't prepared for was the distance from the condo to the pools/beach. It wasn't walkable for the kids due to distance and steep inclines and there were no golf carts available for rent during our week there. Outside of that, we would visit again in a heartbeat!! One of the best family vacations for outdoor adventures!
