My 10yr old daughter and I stopped in Franklin on our way to Great Smokey Mtn NP. It was a Sunday and most restaurants were closed but the Bowery was open. We were so glad we stopped here instead of at a chain. The food was excellent. I had the pimento cheese sandwich and butternut squash bisque. My daughter had the fried chicken over corn biscuits with sausage gravy. We were extremely pleased with our food, service, and price. We are planning on stopping there again the next time we go up for a hike.

The special hamburger was so amazing.. We had it with pot roast on top. YUM and we substituted the fries for Brussels sprouts that were delicious. I would recommend this restaurant. Jesus' Blessings and Peace

We are visiting from Florida and this was our first visit to Franklin as well as to this restaurant. This is a farm to table restaurant which appealed to me. It is still a growing trend. With that in mind, one would think the service would include; making the patron feel welcomed, as if the patron has ever dined with them before, if bit explain the restaurants farm to table concept and what maybe good choices. None of this happened. We chose a light lunch soup and sandwich. It was good.. Lovely restaurant visually.

In comparison to last time we actually had a server notice that we were there. It wasn't a particularly busy night, but the kitchen was quite slow. We had a steak which was over cooked and tough. The sides were good though. We also had a basket of cold, stale rolls which must have been sitting around for a few days. The place has ambience, however it seems as though they just can not get their act together.

Have eaten here more than a dozen times and only had two good experiences. There is only one "Vegetable Plate" for vegetarians to select from. Their is absolutely no consistency to the quality of that plate, and for $14 you're generally hungry when you leave. No filling up on bread.... the rolls look store bought circa 1970, and the cornbread is inedible - hard and tasteless. The most consistent item for a vegetarian to order is the french fries, which are reliably good.... but now they are inexplicably priced at $7. There are fish options, but the portions are very small and expensive - the day's special is always $26. We live in town and want this restaurant to succeed so we keep trying it, but will probably give up now. There appears to be no one in charge to complain to either.
