Ample parking and store has dining area inside and covered porch seating outside. Store offers specialty food items like sauces, salsas, honey, etc as well as various sweets (chocolate bars, etc.)
Sandwich on cibatta bread was really good - bread was extremely fresh.
Reasonably priced as well. If you're looking for a salad, they can do sandwich as a salad, or you can order from the posted deli menu specials, or pay by the pound (which could get a little pricey). We did the deli salad special that included 3 items .. had chicken salad, tossed salad, fresh fruit.
Would dine here again.

Had lunch here and the food was delicious. Lots of options to choose from - sandwiches, wraps, salads. You can sit in our out and although its on a main road its actually quite a peaceful location. Loved the shop too - lots of lovely bits and pieces to browse (food, cookery books, wines etc)

Foster’s is a popular Durham spot for breakfast and lunch and even simple supper. The atmosphere is usually crowded though friendly. Good bakery goods, especially their chocolate bomb cookies. Enjoy the wide range of ready made salads. You choose and they weigh. It is nice to sit outside. It usually has a blend of student and community customers.

Foster's has the feel of, and reminds us of the old mercantile store. Good for a laid-back breakfast or lunch on a nice day where you can sit outdoors among the eclectic collection of tables and chairs, and watch, or visit, other families or groups, some with their dogs in tow. It's a relaxing atmosphere, especially in the morning, just to sit and converse. They have some great food and desserts, and a unique selection of candies and chocolates.
