Futo Buta is my new favorite little restaurant in Charlotte. Just off of South Blvd and right next to the Bland Metro stop, this restaurant has very few tables so arrive early if you want a seat. The casual atmosphere and mixed crowd offer an urban oasis with some of the best food in Charlotte. I'd highly recommend the crispy rice squares with spice tuna appetizer. The Miso ramen (I added the pork and mushrooms) was absolutely delicious. I've eaten Ramen all over the world, and this might just be the best I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying.
This is a very casual, small place, but definitely worth finding in Southend. Highly recommended!

I live in Charlotte and i am always looking for new food spots and i am gad i found Futo Buta. It is a little hard to find as it is tucked away in a corner of an apartment building by the train tracks. You do access it form outside. Everything is very fresh and teh sushi menu is changed up based on what is fresh. We did not do any Sushi but will come back and do that. We started with the Brussels sprouts which were the some of the best i have ever eaten. Fresh with coated with just enough awesome flavor ...could have eaten two. We had the pork bun which was good but on par with others i have had, The crispy rice squares was a unique and delicious treat. Rice golden fried like a savory rice crispy treat. Golden crunchy on the outside and soft and sticky on the inside. You top it with a chilled spicy tuna.....really good. The Ramen was the best i have had. Fresh ingredients, homemade noodles and the broth had a creamy deliciousness that i could not stop eating. Decent selection of beer and wine as well. I will go back soon and often.

Cute and cozy little hidden gem located between South Blvd. And the Bland street light rail station, that probably needs to expand their space soon. Lots of delicious appies and main dishes. Ramen bowls are large and I recommend sharing them. Love the poached egg in the ramen bowls. The staff were very friendly and helpful, eager to get us a drink while we waited! We will be back.

Finally got a chance to try the tempting menu that I'd heard and read about. Lunch @ 11:15AM...first in, no wait....15 minutes later, the crowd shows up i.e. get there early for a seat away from the door. Had a daily special appetizer w/ duck confit = delicious!! The Ramen noodle entree was a meal in itself...Tonkotsu w/ pecan smoked pork belly (yum!) but the much heralded creamy pork broth lacked "personality" i.e. nothing truly remarkable to set it above any other Ramen broth BUT it was all good, don't get me wrong. Hidden on side street in SouthEnd but free parking next door and also, easy access to light rail line right outside the entrance. Service was spot on, decor sparse but tasteful...will be back to try the rest of the mysteries on the menu.

Met friends here on a Friday evening and luckily had a reservation as the place was packed. Owner was very friendly as was the wait staff. Place is small so make friends with your neighbors. All dishes were excellent! Great appetizers followed by hot steaming bowls of ramen noodle soup on a cold Charlotte night. Can't wait to bring other friends to this unique spot!
