On our way back from Isle of Palms, we decided to stop in Cashiers, NC. The Laurelwood, which has rooms and cabins, is in the process of being remodeled. The 100 Building has been completely gutted. Our room, in the 300s, was spacious, very clean with a couch and refrigerator/freezer. This isn’t the Ritz Carlton, and it isn’t trying to be. One negative—The room was freezing when we arrived, but the air conditioner/heater did a great job once turned on.

As to the area, the Inn built a trail from the Inn to a small park and then to Whiteside Brewing Co. Whiteside had excellent beers and good pub food. You’re also with a few tenths of a mile of several restaurants, a coffee shop and several boutique shops.

If we’re back in the area, the Laurelwood Inn will be at the top of our list.

We were excited to come the Laurelwood based on the pictures in the website. We had a "premium" room but that was not anything like the picture
Our room was one step above a Travel Lodge and only because it was larger.
I concur with Tourist37596 that this was disappointing.
Oh, and my wife says the mattresses are hard.

We stayed in The Cabin, which was very private and had all the major conveniences. It was located within walking distance of shops and restaurants in Cashiers. The staff were very accommodating and made sure that we had what we needed. Loved the fireplace and the screened porch. Loved the rustic decor as well! We would definitely stay again!

Nice rustic but dated inn. Very clean. A little small, which is ok because you dont want to be inside this time of year. Staff very friendly. Nice outside sitting. Close to other locations for hiking, shopping and dining. Price is right.

On a positive note the room was very clean but that’s the best I can say. The rooms are very dated. We had a rusted out towel bar/shelf. An old cabinet above the toilet that was so shabby it needed to be removed. Linens on the bed were well worn and dowdy. The drapes barely covered the windows and were very thin. The worst problem was street noise. We had a room facing the Main Street and it was loud from early morning till 10 at night. Would not stay here again.
