Description: We are a casual dining restaurant located on the Pamlico Sound in Buxton. We have been serving lunch and dinner on the Outer Banks for 20 years now, six in Hatteras until Hurricane Isabel took our building away, and then we blew up the road to Buxton for the last 14 years. At this time lunch is served daily 11:30-3 in season, and dinner is served nightly at 5pm. All of our soups and desserts are homemade, we serve an assortment of fresh seafood daily, as well as sandwiches, steaks, ribs, and pastas. We have live music on the deck Thursday & Friday nights this summer. Hope to see you there!!

From the service to the food, Sandbar has maintained its high quality. We ate here last week during our annual windsurfing week. The portions are huge and prepared perfectly!

The chowder was delicious with plenty of clams - not Manhattan or New England, but a tasty broth with the right balance of vegetables. The steamed shrimp and the battered fried flounder were tender and full of flavour. I had the 'Black n Blue' Prime Rib, huge steak covered with blue cheese, so big I took half home - delicious!

Have enjoyed dinner here several times including during the big power outage summer 2017. Tonight’s visit they were fairly busy but service was prompt. Oysters and scallops were our entrees and both were nice size, generous numbers, served piping hot. Crab dip is fantastic. Only negative is the fairly limited beer selection on tap.

Great views, especially at sunset or if storms are over the sound.

Thank you for your review. We are looking to change out at least one of our 6 beers on tap this winter. Open to suggestions...

Fun atmosphere. Very nice waitress! Very good food.... I had the seared tuna and it was excellent! It is on the sound side of island and there are tables with water view. You do have to go to the second floor to eat.

The only place that we found that was open for lunch in town. The view was great, the soda we got tasted moldy. The scallop apitizer was awesome

The waitress was great but the tuna tacos very dry. The clam strips were okay and the drinks were good.
