“no stove”

Four Mile Creek State Park
Attraction details

We stayed in a yurt on a Tuesday and Wednesday night. Typical state park. Was a bit upset about the website for booking (could be website fault not park fault) - Stated that there was a stove in the yurt but there was not. The price on the website indicated $70/night but was charged $90. After going back to website noticed there was an asterisk next to the price the indicated prices vary depending on the dates booked. I did not notice this before, not sure if an update or what but i did notice that there were additional yurts added after my initial booking so not sure if the prices were raised. Bathrooms were clean. Fire wood we bought there was wet so had a hard time starting fire. The yurt itself was great: roomy, comfortable sleeping. Yurts 1 and 2 had smaller decks, I think they were the originals. Newer yurts seemed to have bigger decks. Gorgeous sunset and view of lake.

Camped at 4 Mile Creek State Park for 5 nights. We had a site with a view of Lake Ontario, which was very nice. Even without a view, it is a short walk to the lake where you can being chairs or a blanket to sit and watch the sunset. We used out campsite as a home base for day trips to Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake to visit all the wonderful wineries in Canada.

We stayed lake view and it was absolutely lovely. Our site was large and faced Lake Ontario. The only thing which would of been better would to be on the two campsites across the street which where directly lake front. The washrooms were clean and spacious. Their are two playgrounds one for smaller children and one for older children and fields for the kids the play. A small camp store. The only bummer was because Lake Ontario has risen over 3 feet it has destroyed much of the shore line and the beach and boat dock have been destroyed. We did try to go to a beach a few miles down the road at neighboring park, but it was pretty much destroyed as well.

This is the nicest state park we have been in. Now we are not long time Campers (a little over a year) but I would recommend this park to everyone!! You have large lots, you have shade trees. The bathrooms are clean. The showers are great!! (My husband thought the shower stalls were too small)?? I being the wife did not check out his but mine was just fine!! Us Campers depend on good showers!!!! I loved this park!! Met some really nice people. Has stuff for kids, swings, slides, can ride their bikes. I loved this place. (And did I tell you price is great?)

We decided on an early season, last minute overnighter close to home and this was one of the last few state parks nearby that we hadn't camped. Four Mile Creek fit the bill.

Not a lot to do in the park itself an that was fine us: we just wanted a quiet spot we could be out in the air and close to the water. On the other hand, that's not to say there's not plenty to do nearby. For those visiting places like Niagara Falls, Fort Niagara and other Western New York destinations, it would be tough to find a prettier and still convenient place to camp.

Very clean restroom/shower facilities and large enough sites to have some privacy and space from other campers. One caveat: most sites did not appear to be very level. Two we tried weren't at all but that's a very small complaint.

One thing: be sure to catch sundown over Lake Ontario. It's pretty wonderful.
