My wife and I just came back from an extended weekend at the Idlwilde and it was everything we had hoped it would be. Beautiful property, very friendly staff, great accommodations. We also splurged and stayed in the carriage house, room #16. If you are looking for a place to just have some downtime that is close (but not too close) to everything in Watkins Glen this is the place. Thank you Maria and John. I am certain we will be back.

Room Tip: All of the room that we did see were quite nice. If your looking for a little more privacy I would...

Idlwilde is under new ownership, and we can't wait to have you back for another visit! As of November, Elin and Marcus have been working non-stop to make the Idlwilde Inn into their new home and business. With so much to build on thanks to the previous owners, we feel there's nothing but upside as we work to make every aspect of your stay with us pleasant, enjoyable and rejuvenating. So please, give us the chance to provide you with a wonderful stay in this gorge-ous locale!

We recently spent a long weekend celebrating our 40th anniversary and splurged on Room #6 which is their "Master Suite". Huge bedroom with 4-poster bed, private sitting room as well as a sun room, large bathroom and a private deck. We were not disappointed. Our accommodations were comfortable and immaculately clean. We enjoyed sitting on the deck that overlooked the front lawn and a glimpse of the lake. And, we had a great view of the stars and fireworks over the lake.
Breakfast each morning was delicious and promptly served in their beautiful dining room. Innkeeper, Maria, was friendly and helpful, suggesting some activities we might enjoy.
Location is close to town but up a pretty steep hill which might be too much for anyone with knee problems. And, you will be in walking distance of Watkins Glenn State Park.
I've read some negative reviews about not being able to control the AC within each room. We were a little chilly the first night but this was quickly remedied the following day when we mentioned it to Maria. Couldn't ask for more!

For a last minute trip, it was a good deal...and likely the last room in town. It was close to the state park but not in town. It is situated on a large hill above the town. Had to share a bathroom, which was inconvenient, but not bad. Bathroom was clean. Room #4 was clean and spacious enough for us. However, with two air conditioning vents, it was FREEZING. No way to control the thermostat. I was told to use the extra blanket provided. I suppose this was better than being stiflingly hot in August. Bring a jacket if you pick this room. Wifi is available and free. However, too slow to accomplish any work if needed and not password protected. Breakfast was adequate and could be easily improved. It will not be enough for some, as it was not for my spouse. We did not have any run-ins with the owners as others have but can see what they all meant. The house itself is beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous. We did not spend enough time there for this to be a big draw. If visiting The Fingerlakes region again, will try another B&B.

We were greeted with such hospitality by Maria and her husband that we immediately felt welcome at Idlwilde. Maria is so sweet and friendly. Our room and the entire B&B was spotless and beautiful. We stayed in room 6, which I highly recommend because you have your own bathroom, balcony, sunroom, walk-in closet and sitting room. No TVs except in the common area, but we found it better that way. It was so quiet and comfortable. The views were breathtaking, the sunrise, the lake and just overlooking the grounds-wow! Breakfast was perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. We look forward to going back!

This 13,000 square foot mansion has been lovingly restored by the current owners. they provided attentive service and beautiful rooms. The views from the porch were exceptional. the only negative is the fact that they are several hundred feet above the town of Glens Falls which is only a challenge if you have no car, which was our case because we were biking.
