Pleasant rustic ambience with lovely arched high "ancien" brick ceiling and Friendly service. Solid delicious home style French cooking with ample portions - typical of the Ariege. We had duck confit ( mouth watering crispy browned skin and juicy meat), fish ( fresh flaky light) and a hashi of duck and foie gras ( flavorful and substantial)! The vegetable sides were so delicious we gobbled them up first! I have had better red wines from the region but still drinkable.

We came upon this restaurant by chance as it is up a side street. The girl that served us was very eager to please, we had excellent service. There were 5 of us in our party and we all enjoyed our food, nobody had any complaints. It wasn't gourmet food but we didn't pay gourmet prices. We love Mirepoix and we will be going back and will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Firstly the lady who waited on our table was a delight and very welcoming.

We found the food very average lacking the French excellence.

The atmosphere in the resteraunt was slightly odd, not sure if it because we were British but one women from a group took an instant dislike to us and gave us such an unwelcoming feeling throughout the meal.

Overall the food and the atmosphere gave us a slightly nervy experience, but like I said the staff where so welcoming and kind.

There was a cold breeze whistling down the alley in which Le Grain de Sel sits, so eating outside was not an option.
We were 6 (4 adults, 2 kids) and it was clear all tables inside large enough to accommodate us were taken.
After exploring other options, we returned to this restaurant and were fortunate to have several parties leave as we waited. Madam rearranged the furniture to fit us in.
The menu was typical of the region, with a €14 & €20 menu choice plus the carte.
Choices were adequate for the vegetarian and the children in our party, which was more than could be said amongst the open restaurants elsewhere in the town. Even though a children's menu was not on offer, Madam was happy to halve a meal for the younger ones.
We chose the warm chèvre salad, the quiche, the confit duck, and the younger ones shared a duck breast.
All were cooked beautifully and the accompanying veggies very tasty.
Desserts were simple, the chocolate pear tart the standout.
There is nothing fancy about this restaurant, it serves honest good French food, and despite the fact that Madam was very busy the whole time, with just she and one other working the tables, meals came out at good intervals and with good grace.
At first I thought we were going to get a cool reception here, but Madam maintained good humour and attention to our needs throughout.
This was the first southern experience for our visitors, and they loved it.

Great service, the food was absolutely divine, you can tell the products are all so fresh and from the region. We ate a lot for an reasonable price.
