Owner description: the Banana has it all * Ambiance * Great Cocktails * Beautiful Restaurant * Live Music * Dancing * Located at the heart of Grand Bay the Banana Beach Club features a very natural tropical setting with a towering Flamboyant tree in the middle of the bar. The Banana is without a doubt the best known bar in Mauritius and “The Place” on the island to enjoy live music from Jazz, Blues, to Rock every week. After Hours DJ’s play 7 nights a week. The Banana has an extensive cocktail menu and now a fine Restaurant. If you wish to just chill out and enjoy the cool beach atmosphere or see top groups perform, the Banana is the place to be. I've been to Mauritius three times now, and one thing that never change is the many evenings and nights I'm spending at Banana - simply because of the great ambience.

I like how the place is only partially covered by a roof. In the middle of the place there is this big big tree - not sure if it actually is a banana tree. :) It is a nice detail to the place - it gives it character.

Bar staff is very friendly (Arvind taking the lead), and will be happy to make you delicious drinks.

To me dj Henri is the best! I love the music he plays - it can actually be difficult to stay off the dancefloor. :)
If you like live music, you can check their Facebook page to see the program.

It's the place to go regardless of, if you are only going out for a quiet beer or you are in it full steam!

Go go go!

Thank Mette P

Place was overrated. They serve no food only drinks till sometime late in the evening. Lots of crowd was there. looked happening in that winter while other clubs seemed silent. Who like that kind of atmosphere might like it very much. We had plan to stay there till late in the midnight but canceled and left at 9 pm.

I absolutely love places like this with a friendly atmosphere, live music & the kind of character that a place only acquires after having gallons of strong alcohol spilled on the floors over many, many years! It's not a fancy place but for me that's exactly the point! It's the kind of pub you could stop in for a beer on the way home from work and not feel out of place amongst the people who were already washed, dressed & out for the evening. We'd eaten in the adjoining Grill restaurant (also superb!) & once we moved through to the bar area the bar staff started a tab without us even asking, seamlessly keeping our glasses full the entire evening. We never had to jostle or fight to get served the entire night. I'm not exactly sure how this was achieved as the place was fairly busy but in any case it is a credit to the guys who were working behind the bar.
The band was a collection of local musicians who had been brought together by the owner of the B.B.C. who sings and plays guitar. They were all very accomplished and did some great, tight-sounding, covers of blues and classic rock numbers, everything from Cream to Aretha Franklin. The back line rhythm section (bass guitar and drums) sound levels were well placed in the main mix with the drums being surprisingly well isolated using perspex panels. Even sitting close to the stage we could speak without shouting too loudly. Lead guitar and keyboard sound levels were similarly appropriate though the lead vocals lacked a little presence front of house, due partly I think to the stage left main PA speaker being adjusted towards the stage to double as a monitor.
I wish we'd found this place earlier in the holiday but if we do return to Mauritius in the future for sure we will return to the Banana Beach Club. (B.B.C)

We visited this pub for a few drinks and really had a great time. There was a live band performing (which happens most nights) and they were quite good. The first impression and service is completely on point. If you're looking for a great place to enjoy your time this is a great place to visit.
