Not from the area but as far as gardens go, this potential oasis is poorly maintained. The gentleman inside the arboretum was not knowledgeable about the plants at all. Sad. Many of the specimens around the grounds were dead or left for dead. Not enough pruning, weeding, etc. is obvious. Even many of the little signs around the grounds that are used to identify plants and trees are broken, fallen over or missing. Definite earmarks for lack of maintenance. Disappointing because it could be beautiful. I would probably not return in the future.

First time visiting this park... the Orchids were beautiful. I visited today and it is a cold, windy winter day. Can’t wait to come visit again in warmer weather, when the outdoor flowers and trees are in bloom. I love all the paths, fountains, trellis’... can’t wait to come back. A hidden Gem in Westchester.

My first visit to the new one million dollar conservatory left me very impressed. While it’s small, it feels like a very mini version of the magnificent Enid Haupt Conservatory in the Bronx! The orchid show was absolutely beautiful and we spent a very enjoyable half hour slowly admiring the flowers and waterfalls. It’s hot so don’t wear a sweater! For $5 it’s a great bargain. ( Check online for days and hours). And if you’ve never been to Lasdon, allow extra time for the tiny Veteran’s Museum, a stroll to the pretty little Chinese pavilion and pond, and the fascinating hilltop trail displaying wonderful busts of soldiers from all the wars Americans have been in. Those attractions are free, but be aware the entire park closes at 4pm, way too early. Lasdon is a gem in Somers!

My wife and I passed this place hundreds of times..Now we finally turned in and am glad we did.. The Orchid exhibit was excellent; well laid out & informative and overall a beautiful way too forget about the Winter blues..Then they had a WWI exhibit that was very informative and also well laid out/easy to walk around.. We will be back when warmer weather to view the grounds which looked pretty impressive.

The Lasdons donated their home for public use and the surrounding grounds, with diverse plantings, is now Lasdon Arboretum. There is a beautiful lilac collection that goes on and on, pretty peony plantings, and in summer, live music. There is also a military memorial area honoring each of the major conflicts of the past century, a Chinese friendship garden, and a brand new glass conservatory. Stroll in at any season.
