Overall a good place to stay although for a pricier hotel it could use some updating in their rooms. Couch/hideaway had stains and sloped forward so wasn't a comfortable place to sit. If Joe is bartending it is an exceptional experience. He is courteous, makes you feel comfortable and has great service skills. The girls who bartended could learn a few things, they were too busy visiting amonst themselves to acknowledge me at the bar. Eventually they did, but they were not spot on. The hotel lobby is clean and Char the restaurant has awesome food.

2 nights very good accommodations and staff. Easy check in and checkout with airport shuttle. Could use more front desk staff when they get busy though. Shuttle runs every hour if not every half hour.

We decided to stay at the Strathallan this time around after dining in Char (their restaurant) the last time we were out visiting our boys at RIT and loving it.

The hotel room was nice although our reservation was for a king 2 room suite and actually got a queen 2 room suite. It was no big deal as the room was clean and spacious and quiet. I just prefer a king bed.

My husband and I slept in until 10 am our first day and went out to spend the day with our boys. When we returned at 4pm, our room had NOT been cleaned. We had to call down for fresh towels. We also had some rainy weather and wanted to rent a movie in our room only to find that this option was not even offered, only commercial riddled cable TV.

At $300/night, this was disappointing. We have stayed at other Hilton properties and found this one to be just ok. Just wished they offered more.

This hotel has a great location in one of the most desirable areas of Rochester, which is why we selected it. We reserved a suite, and it was very nice - two balconies overlooking the city and rather spacious for several guests. However, when adjusting the desk lamp in the bedroom, the lamp popped loudly and sparks flew out of the head. Thankfully no one was injured and nothing was damaged by the sparks. However, the issue was reported to the front desk three times, and the lamp was not replaced or removed at any point during the stay, and no apology or compensation for the incident was offered. I always stay at HIlton properties, and I was very disappointed by how this was handled.

Online this looks like a really nice hotel. Panorama Bar, Japanese Restaurant and Steak Bar and Lounge. So we booked in for a Friday night when visiting Rochester for a performance. Apart from a few irritants like only two elevators which are very slow, very few rooms with bath tubs and a printing system for documents that didn't work, it could be very nice. The problem is that the management has an integrity problem. The website detailed all the opening times of the bars and restaurants but when we arrived the Panorama Bar AND the Japanese restaurant were closed for a wedding and the steak bar was packed out with wedding guests. Apparently Saturday was going to be the same. Its not a hotel, its an event center with a B&B attached.

So the bottom line is you can be a hotel with facilities or you can be an event center, but you cannot be both. If you are going to close down major facilities put it on your website. What other kind of business gets to advertise major facilities and gets away with deciding not to open them?

Clearly the management of this hotel do not have any consideration for their guests. Stay away
