Our service was very slow. We sat at the counter watching the grill. The cook was training someone and was a little behind. The owner came along to catch her up. Took our order which was up next to be cooked and said "this is a 4 - it will have to wait" and moved us to the end of the line. It took nearly 45 minutes to get an omelette, a breakfast sandwich, some eggs, and hash, etc. The omelette was scorched on one side and raw in the middle. I was disappointed after all the hype this place has been receiving recently. Won't be in any hurry to go back.

We come here frequently for a yummy breakfast or brunch when we're in town. This is a cozy place with an wonderful classic diner feel. The staff is always friendly. It is a small restaurant, so there is sometimes a bit of a wait, but it's worth it!

We stopped in on Father's Day so we expected a wait. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated almost immediately and we were seated at the counter. What a fun experience! The hustle and bustle of the servers and the owner are impressive. The food was delicious as was the coffee. If we return to the area, we will return to the Penn Yan Diner.

Small mainstay diner serving up fantastic breakfasts and lunches. Retro-like train-car decor will take you back in time. One of the best diners around, and serving up some of the best homemade pies in the area. You can't go wrong here.....

Arrived at closing time, but were welcomed in anyway. The owner was very informative, helpful and pleasant as was the waitress. The diner is pristine, the food was very good (huge portions!), very affordable and the coffee was excellent. Well worth a visit.
