We have returned to the Clark House Bed and Breakfast for the fifth time now. We have stayed in most all of the rooms in the house (our fave is the Asia Room - we love the colors and the artwork on the walls!), and we consider it our home away from home.

Only two hours from New York City it's an easy ride up and an easy stay. The rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced. Our favorite thing to do is relax and read on the enclosed front porch or out back on the deck overlooking the sprawling grounds and mountains.

It may not sound exciting but when in need of R&R this is a perfect fit for us - to get away, power down and just be. If it rains, we're equally happy to sit in the living area surrounded lush plants and the fabulous collection of flower paintings that grace the walls of the breakfast area :)

Mike and Christine are excellent hosts! Warm, gracious and respectful. They are fabulous cooks. We always look forward to a delicious thoughtful breakfast and endless cups of coffee or tea.

We are neat freaks and detail oriented when it comes to lodging and every inch of the place is neat and clean. The rooms are decorated in uniquely different themes that are intriguing and at the same time peaceful. The bathrooms are pristine. We once came with my mother and she enjoyed her room, the house and meeting Mike and Christine very much, feeling very much at home too!

After a day of R&R we are usually up for town hopping or nature walks. Palenville is a short drive from Hudson, Tannersville, Saugertise, Woodstock without the crowds. Mike and Christine have never failed us in their recommendations for a great restaurant or things to do.

We look forward to returning for many years to come!

Room Tip: I always like to speak with the hosts if I have questions about the rooms. All rooms get great light and have open views.

It was wonderful. Christine and Michael made recommendations to restaurants and places to visit that were spot on. And to say that Breakfast was exceptional is an understatement! We were there 3 nights and every morning breakfast was a fantastic treat. No heavy handed but simply a perfect balance. They are a lovely couple. The location is perfect for going into the mountains or to enjoy the gifts of the Hudson River valley.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter and the french quarter room has a hand-held shower not a stand up shower

Had a wonderful time here for a quick weekend getaway. My partner and I stayed in the loft at the very top of the home, which was a lovely, open space full of delightful artifacts from all over the world. To access the loft you needed to climb a short staircase, a small consideration if you have difficulty with stairs. The space was nice and roomy, 600+ sq feet so it was like having a private apartment and had lots of privacy. Our room had a shower, I missed not having a jacuzzi but it was a nice sized bathroom. Our room also had a TV with access to netflix, hulu, etc. Free towels to take with you to the lake, robes, slippers, and wine. A great view of the mountains, and two large ACs and several ceiling fans to keep the room cool. And an awesome looking wood stove that I wouldn't dream of turning on in 100 degree weather.

The cost for the loft was more than I would have liked to spend but it was very short notice and the value was good. Breakfast was amazing and Mike and Christine were wonderful hosts. They were very friendly and gave great advice about where to go in the area. Location is very convenient to the beautiful Katterskill Falls.

Room Tip: Ask about the features of each room before booking.

Let me just say that Mike and Christine are a fantastic couple. They are helpful and want to provide you with a first-class experience.
The rooms are beautiful and stylized and the location is peaceful.
We rented this house for the bridal party for our wedding, and the weekend with them was a dream. EVERY single one in the bridal party (we had couples and even one child with us--everyone enjoyed).
TIP: Get plenty of information about the rooms/bathrooms before you choose one, as they are all charmingly different and wonderful--but for example one has a loft bed, which would not be suited for a less "mobile" individual and not all have "traditional showers". If you are well informed and research all of the options you will be very pleased!

We stayed at this place for two nights. The room was nice, clean, and spacious. There is a small hot tub outside for the guest.
The breakfast was excellent and with a variety of choice. Most guests have the breakfast around the same time on the communal table, so it's great for meeting other traveler and exchange the trip tips.
