This Hotel we tried to book through Relais & Chateaux on June 6th for three nights in July. We were attracted by the beauty of their homepage and the promising pictures of the area and the rooms. The booking went smoothly as we have had the assistance of a lady on the phone and asked her to go for two rooms of the category "Amour Fou". She confirmed them first orally and we went ahaed. On June 7th the confirmation mail reached us. Only on June 11th we received a mail of the Hotel, asking us to change rooms AND to accept a move to again another room within the short stay of two days only. They claimed the confirmation issued by Relais & Chateaux was false as their own system didn't communicate properly with R&CH. They even called me. Today I made clear that the original booking is what we insist on, in no time I had another phone call from the owner or management of the Hotel. She clearly stated kids are NOT welcome in the Hotel, not at all under the age of 12. Dogs are welcome neither and I can be happy they gave early notice for their change of our booking, she also could have waited us to arrive and then ask us to move to another room and to change room within our short stay. In other words it was their kindness to let us know early. What we could book only is a category and we would have no rights on rooms in particular. On top she would be more then happy to receiver our cancellation. This leaves us in a timewise tight situation and can not be recommended at all. Never we experienced any Hotel with such a NON-welcoming and unfriendly policy, in particular not in that price categorie.
Relaxing place in the middle of nowhere, top service, the cheapest room that we had was both beautiful and confortable. The dinner was an experience in itself - all six dishes were exceptional!
Don't forget to ask for full hot breakfast, which is included. In our case the waiter proposed bread, croissants, preserves, yogourt and tea/coffee without offering anything else, so we thought they did not have any eggs or cheese, the place is remote, but as it happens they do, but you have to ask.
Unfortunately, no shower curtain. And do not take "house" champagne for aperitif by the glass - it's average, expensive and was served almost warm. For the same price they have Billecart-Salmon by the glass on the wine list, I wonder why we have not been offered it.
The place is not cheap, but worth the money. Overall, it is highly recommended. The little negatives have not spoiled the experience. The food is amazing, I have to say it again.
Quiet, discreet, elegant, small establishment. Located in the 'outback' of France, this is the place to come if you're looking for pleasant hikes, fascinating medieval cathedrals and no crowds (and no tourist scourge). Dinner comes with the rate, and its because there really isn't a restaurant scene anywhere nearby (which was terrific by us). Food was delicious, wine list a bit limited but fine. We started with Gin and Tonics in the garden, then sauntered into the dining room around 7:30 each evening (we're American early eaters). Service was impeccable and not intrusive. Among the best Relais & Chateaux we've ever stayed in.
The location is incredible, a unique setting being in the middle of this idyllic village. The room was so cute, it was essentially a whole house. Charming, beautifully decorated.
Staff were helpful and friendly, very at tentative and a real family feeling.
Food was good but not great. Was going to mark the property down for this one reason, but kept it at 5 stars as they are deserved.
However, we look forward to returning soon. Worth a detour, highly rated
Outstanding surroundings and outstanding idea as regards to renovating a small village into a luxury 5 stars hotel - the houses are actually the rooms-.
Outstanding welcome as well from the owner, who makes you feel like being good and close friends meeting up again – the handling of guest is smart and warm, with a great sense of humor – Overall, the entire staff falls into that pattern – it’s really unexpected to find such quality staff in such a remote area, simple, friendly and true. Absolutely excellent in this respect.
Rooms are really outstanding, it’s full of great ideas, and really creative – not the same decoration magazine over and over again, I certainly will remember this place! Top of this, it’s amazingly peaceful and quiet, very relaxing.
Excellent restaurant, very nicely decorated, and special congratulations for the lounge, which is warm and authentic.
Spa is a bit restricted, though; massage (subcontracted) is just below fair, to my view – the only thing I did not enjoy during my stay –
