“Not bad for the price.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2011

This was a last minute late stop for us on a road trip. The room was comfortable and quiet. Its very close to the falls. The beds were suprisingly comfortable. The shower heads are great but there really wasn't that much hot water. It was warm. The tv remote didn't work either. The continental breakfast was a nightmare. Stale toast rotten, old fruit and flavorless waffles. The choc donut was good. Overall for the price it wasn't a bad stay but it all depends what your looking for.

This hotel is not new, but it is adequate. The rooms are small and the bathroom is VERY small, but it is clean and tastefully decorated. I noticed in some of the previous pictures that the TVs where 19 inch old style TVs. Our room had a nice wide screen TV, so I am assuming that all the old TVs have all been replaced with wide screen TVs. The room was also quiet and had a good view of the park out the window (the other side will have a view of the parking lot). The lobby is fairly nice and they have a pretty good gift shop in the hotel. The free breakfast was great. They had waffles (not the frozen kind), scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cereal, bread, pastries, orange juice and more. The staff was very nice.

The best thing about this hotel is the location (you can actually hear the roar of the falls). It is the closest hotel to the observation deck that has the best view of the American and Horeshoe Falls from the American side. It's literally less than a 5 minute walk away. It is also close to Horseshoe Falls. Perhaps the only other hotel that is closer to Horseshoe Falls is the Red Coach Inn. If you choose a newer hotel (i.e. Four Points Sheraton), you won't be within walking distance to the falls, so you might as well add another $10 for parking to your hotel room bill. Add the inconvenience and I think it is wiser to stay at one of the hotels by the falls.

Now about the American side of the falls. It's not much to write home about for anything other than the falls. The Canadian side has a better view of the best fall, Horseshoe, but you will at least be able to get up close and personal with all 3 of the falls, Horseshoe, Bridleveil, and American from the American side. There are some steps to get down to the base of American Falls, but it is closed in the winter.

Restaurants are few and far between near the hotel. We could only find the Hard Rock Cafe, TGI Friday's, a bar at the Quality Inn, restaurants in the Seneca Casino, and a few other random places. You can tell just by looking across the river at Canada that there are a million more places to eat and a million more things to do.

My suggestions. If you have a current passport, go to Canada (passports are now a requirement since 2009). According to statistics I read, 90% of all tourism for Niagara Falls is in Canada, and that's for a reason. There are more activities other than just the falls.

During the winter, the Maid of the Mist ferry ride is closed (and so are a lot of other attractions), so views of Horseshoe falls won't be that great from the American side. Stay in a hotel close the by the falls such as the Comfort Inn. It's not the newest hotel, but you're there to see the falls, not to stay in a fancy hotel. Don't plan to stay more than a day or two if you have to stay on the American side, otherwise you will get bored.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th or 6th floor with a park view.

We were going to the casino for the evening and wanted to stay there but they were booked. So we got a room at the Comfort Inn for a fraction of the price of the casino. It's not luxurious but it was clean and comfortable. The beds were acceptable with decent pillows and the bath towels were nice. Across the street from the park and a short walk to the casino. There is a workout room and a free breakfast but we didn't take advantage of either of them.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor so there wasn't much of a view. I'm sure higher up would be bette...

Stayed in the Comfort inn over an October weekend. Nice little hotel. Excellent location directly across from Niagara falls state park. It was easy to go back and forth to our hotel if we needed anything. Very good breakfast. Could make our own waffles. Hotel just a short walk away from the Hard Rock Cafe.
I would recommend staying on the upper floors away from the elevator. Our room was on the ground floor and the elevator kept making a buzzing noise my husband and I could hear from our room. (kept us up the first night) Our room was also musty, but we didn't come here to hang out in our room. We came to see the falls.

Room Tip: Stay down the hall from the elevators. They are noisy.
