The Minna's in Middletown just opened about two weeks ago and we wanted to review the restaurant as quickly possible. We wanted others to know about the Middletown Minna's. We have driven to Monroe and New Windsor to eat at Minna's many times. Now we have a Minna's in Middletown. We are happy.

The new location is on Route 211 East at the Middletown City Town of Wallkill boundary. It is across from Popeye's. The restaurant is located on the corner of a building that has an Enterprise Rental. Minna's is very inviting. The front and side is all glass and sunny. The interior has muted colors and pastels. The decoration is minimal. There are about a dozen tables, a long high top near the bar, and the bar. There is an outdoor patio. For some reason, the space reminds us of a cantina.

The food is just as good if not better than the other Minna's in New Windsor and Monroe. We started with a draft Modela and a Mango Madness. The bar has about four beers on tap and several bottled beers. Next, we had two empanadas. They were small but the prices is good. The empenadas were very good. We ordered pernil and mofongo for our entrees. Both were excellent. The pernil was moist and was served with rice and beans, Our other entree was shrimp mofongo. There were six fairly large shrimp. The mofongo was excellent. It was not dry as mofongo could get if cooked too long. The great part was that the mofong had a broth with garlic that enhanced the taste and prevented the mofongo from being dry. In addition, the entree also came with a container of red sauce that was extremely tasty. It was a superior meal.

The entry to the strip mall is very tight and narrow. It is a one way with limited parking in front of the restaurant. Our suggestion is to enter the bank driveway, just after Minna's, and park in the lot in the rear of Minna's. There is plenty of parking in the rear.

We are very pleased to have Minna's in Middletown and we will be regulars.

Been here more than once and will continue to do so because food is flavorful. I like their steak in Mina's chipotle sauce and the roast pork. My children love their steak with onions. Only minor flaw is that sometimes the roast pork is not hot(temperature) but other than that I enjoy it.

The service we received was excellent. Our servers frequently checked to determine if we needed anything and if the food was good. They were very attentive.

Our meal was outstanding. We started with canoa as an appetizer. Canoa is an entire cooked plaintain cut down the middle and stuffed with either beef or chicken. We selected the beef. The seasoned beef was subtle and good.

For our entrees we ordered pernil and oxtail stew. The pernil was moist and tasty. We had black beans and rice and maduros. There was plenty to eat. The oxtail stew was outstanding. The meat was tasty and juicy. The broth was deep in flavor and so delicious. Unfortunately, the oxtail stew did not come with bread. There was so much of this great broth left after eating the oxtails that we requested a "doggie bag" for the broth. We had the broth with a Portuguese roll the next day. It was great. We also had maduros with the oxtail stew.

For dessert we ordered flan coche and espresso. The flan coche is a chocolate cake flan. This was a treat. We never had chocolate cake flan.

The restaurant is plain but the service was great and the food was excellent.
