We were our for an early New Year;s Eve Dinner at Chef Wang's New Hyde Park restaurant last night. Our waitress, Nina, was so happy and pleasant that the whole meal got off to a wonderful start. We explained that we wanted to eat very slowly, to enjoy both the food and the fine wine we'd brought with us (a $10 per bottle corkage charge was so very fair). Nina took command and served us at exactly the pace we wanted. And every interaction with her was accompanied by a smile.
As to the food, WOW! Everything was perfect. Among the excellent tastes we savored were scallion pancakes, barbequed spare ribs, juicy pork buns (soup dumplings), cumin lamb, Crispy fish, Singapore mei fun...
Although the specialties of the house are Szechuan dishes, the preparations of the Cantonese dishes were testimony to the versatility of the chefs. And our lovely waitress Nina was so careful to pre-determine the level of heat we wanted in the spicier dishes in order to satisfy our taste buds. It made for a wonderful experience.
