Owner description: Macari Vineyards & Winery, established in 1995, is family owned and operated with two tasting rooms and over 180 acres under vine. In the vineyard, the Macari family has strived to be on the cutting edge of viticulture, employing principles of environmentally friendly farming from the very beginning. Our Mattituck Tasting Room is open year round for winetastings. Wines are also available by the glass or bottle to enjoy in ourEstate Room or outside on our covered deck or picnic area. We offer cheeseplatters in season and light snacks are available in our gift shop.

Went out to Mattituck for Memorial day weekend. Needed a break from the picnic scene.....decided to go over to Macari. Very nice great room area with gifts, wine ect. Wine bar area a little on the small side, but it wasn't too busy so we didn't feel rushed. Our wine guide didn't know answers to some of our basic questions (we own a small vineyard in the Finger Lakes area). The outside back deck was lovely and a nice setting for enjoying a bottle of wine.

Macari has loveky grounds, and we always top here on our vineyard trips to enjoy a glassmof wine on their deck. The early chard is my summer favorite

felt the staff was rushing us, and it wasn't busy. Felt more of a gift store with a wine bar as an afterthought. Wines okay but pricey.

We visited Macari as part of the LI Jazz fest "Live on the Vine" www.liwinterfest.com or www.eastendarts.org.

It's always great to see see live music, or so we thought. For $15 we got a glass of house wine (limited choices) and admission . The merlot and chardonnay were pretty acidic, so we did not spring for additional glasses of the upscale wines as lots of people did. They sold packages of crackers & bread for $2.50 and up, and cheese for $10 and up, so you could buy a glass or bottle of wine, and cheese and crackers as you wish, sit at the tables, even dance, and have a good time.

But this was the toughest crowd I've seen is a venue such as this; There were 2 adjacent rooms, unfortunately we sat in the noisy room because there were no tables in the music room. Folks at the tables were talking, laughing, screaming over the music. So rude! Why did you pay the $15 if you don't want to hear the music? The manager/host requested that the patrons please quiet down and listen, but it was still too noisy to hear the band. Even when we moved to the music room the drinkers in the back were obnoxious.

I would give this another try next week, if I could, since it's such a good idea. Check out the different bands and wineries on the websites. It was a bit cool to sit outside but we did see families outdoors on the deck, with their own picnic baskets.
