Took our 4-day, 3-night honeymoon to The Haus on Mirror Lake. Staff was very accommodating, condo was beautiful and check in/out was a breeze. It was a nice, clean apartment with a spectacular waterfront view. Very high praise and recommendations!

We stayed at this facility for 3 nights recently. The place is very noisy. It is right on main Street. The staff must be called on the phone as the office is only open a few hours in the afternoon for check in.
Parking is not available on the premises but several blocks away.
No food on premises.
TV consists of 5 stations and the internet is poor at best.
Expensive for what you get.
The beds are European sized and smaller than US queen size. Slightly larger than a full size.
There are better choices around.

Hallo,
Thank you for your review. I am very sorry you didn't care for us. We are not a conventional hotel, more a gasthaus. We can best convey what we are and aren't on OUR site. Please permit me to respond to your issues:

Yes we are on Main Street - not a resort in the woods, so like any city hotel, we provide earplugs with our complimentary toiletries. One can always book a much quieter lake front room. As we are on the "quiet end" of Main Street, blocks away from the bars and night club, most of the noise on the street happens in the morning.

With a total staff including myself we are but 3-4 souls; indeed too small to have one of us sit around Front Desk 24/7. In daytime, I assure you we are scurrying about the building, just hard to find. We love what we do and can always be reached by phone.

At check-in guests are provided a Municipal parking permit. The closest lot and two permit only sections are 1/2 a block away, (perk: the permit is valid throughout the village too). In Summer one can also park on the street. It is not difficult, as something ALWAYS opens up by the 2nd pass.

There is food on premises. There's a great, lake front pizzeria in the building, a german bakery, craft brewery, and steak house directly across the street. 2 doors down is the best breakfast in town. 8 doors is a gourmet seafood restaurant, and within 2 blocks 20 other restaurants, cafes, sweet shops, Chinese take out and a few ice cream pallors.

Mea culpa on the TV selection. With the takeover of Time Warner by Spectrum, no one will offer us a hotel package so I bought all new WiFi gear, upper the broadband speed to 50Mbps which is usually awesome but our infrastructure is unstable when the town is in high season. This is why it is free. I have considered throttling it for a user fee like most hotels so you can stream movies. What do you think?

I have no idea what you mean about European sized beds. We have American made Queen and King beds.

Dear reader I hope you will take the time to look at some of our other reviews before deciding about us. And in general book with any site you like but please do your homework. Small establishments are by nature, different.

Many thanks, travel well!

Our room had the best balcony and view and that's where we spent a lot of time.
This was the place to be for morning coffee and evening drinks. The extra bonus was a summer concert in the park on the water, right next door. Loved it!
The suite was clean, roomy, nicely decorated and comfortable. The other key to our stay was the location. Being in the middle of Main Street was so convenient. Tony and his staff were so friendly and ready to do what it takes to please us. I hope we can make it back sooner than later. Great job, Haus Team!

We stayed in suite 6 at The Haus for 5 nights during the Ironman. The clean, modern accommodation was very much as advertised with two bedrooms and well-equipped kitchen. The location was perfect: a short walk to the Ironman locations and the beach, with good restaurants close by and Starbucks just a couple of blocks away. Anthony and the staff were extremely helpful, and the parking pass that comes with the room made it easy to park nearby without hassle or cost. So no surprise that we've already booked to return to The Haus in September: we are already looking forward to it!

Aly, it's such a compliment to know you were this pleased with your stay! Between the location, service, and room itself, we're thrilled it was just what you had in mind. We'd love to see you back someday for another visit!

Until then,
Anthony and Andrea, Owners

When I was young my father traveled to this area and talked about how nice it was so I thought it would be a good place to spend my wife's birthday on our way back to Atlanta from Montreal. I was surprised when we got to Lake Placid and found that it was filed with tacky souvenir shops and Harleys ridden by overweight senior citizens. The Haus is centrally located and comfortable, but I think it shows better in the pictures than in real life. We enjoyed walking around Mirror Lake and the other side is definitely more scenic. The drive in and out of town is also very pretty. We had a great dinner at the Lake Placid Lodge if that comes within your budget.

Room Tip: Be prepared to climb stairs and for a hike to parking. Lake front rooms would be most desireable.

Dear Robert,

Thank you for taking the time to put in a review. I am inclined to agree why you didn't find Lake Placid appealing during the Americade motorcycle rally weekend. It would be most helpful to know what images didn't live up to your impression of us too? Though your Suite, #2, has my favorite bathroom and tall, sunny rooms, it lacks the huge balcony, fireplace, and lake front/mountain vistas of our deluxe units that may have improved your opinion of us. It is our sincere goal to under promise and over deliver, as we are so small and remote.

80% of your comments are primarily focused on the village of Lake Placid. Dear reader, please consider the impact of your statements when commenting on an experience that has no direct relevance to the establishment being reviewed.
