I remember Art Devlin as a commentator on ski jumping on Wide World of Sports. He was enthusiastic for a sport that few Americans knew much about. He evidently owned this hotel as a Lake Plasic native. His myriad of trophies are in the lounge where coffee, donuts and muffins are available each morning. You can also see a statute of Art at the Olympic Ski Jump venue. The hotel is very well maintained. You can get a very good view of the mountains and even the tops of the ski jumps. The pool looked lovely but we did not partake. The room is large and well maintained. There is no elevator for the second story if steps bother you. The property is well situated within easy walking distance of a number of eateries. Now the only reason I did not rate 5 stars was because the maid left our room wide open most of the day on our last night of our 3 night stay. There was nothing missing from our belongings and I guess if it is going to happen in any motel, this is likely one of the safer areas for that to happen. Luckily it did not spoil our stay.

This was our second visit here and it was as good as the first. Had a second story silver room. We could see the High Peaks and the ski jumps from the balcony. Room is well furnished (beds a little soft) and bathroom is very well appointed and clean. Breakfast is pretty simple - donut or muffin with coffee. We sat outside all three morning and ate our muffins and coffee. We were able to walk back and forth to the main part of town from here -- we did that several times. We also walked to the Mirror Lake Beach from here to go swimming -- very refreshing and a really nice beach area. We were able to sit around the pool in the late afternoon -- I really liked the landscaping here. All in all a really pleasant place stay.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms have nice views . . .

We booked last minute with no concept of what the place was like and were blown away by how well kept the rooms and especially the grounds/pool were. The rooms are large, the beds very comfortable with huge flat screen TV's and the bathrooms are gorgeously tiled with nice new fixtures. This place is a real bargain and will be our go to place in Placid when we travel there, as we often do. Extremely accommodating folks as well. Our first of many visits, in fact we just booked it again for a fall colours motorcycle tour at the end of September

Room Tip: Stay out back if possible. It's an oasis right in town

We stayed here before. The rooms are always clean, beds comfy and a nice size bathroom. The gentleman who checked us in told us we could park the motorcycles
under the open shelter out back because of impending rain. We are so thankful. We
had just returned in the afternoon when the rains came.Wet motorcycle seat are no fun.

We have passed by Art Devlin's many times on our way to other accommodations in Lake Placid. After reading all the good reviews on Tripadvisor and hearing some great word - of -mouth we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Our room was super clean and we had a wonderful view of the High Peaks from our balcony. They also have a beautiful outdoor pool which we were lucky to have all to ourselves on our visit! The staff were all very nice and friendly and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. It was an easy walk to restaurants and Mirror Lake. Hope to return this Fall to do some hiking!

Room Tip: The "Gold" rooms have great mountain views
