My husband and I were in East Hampton, NY last week on vacation. We were thinking of having dinner at Cittanuova, so we decided to have a drink at their bar the night before to check it out. Glad we did. Not worth spending money here for the way we were treated by the bartender. He was an older gentleman who never once smiled at us or greeted us warmly as we sat down at the bar. We literally waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged by him. The bar was not crowded. Clearly he was more interested in chatting with the locals sitting there that he knew then making new customers feel welcome. The drinks were mediocre at best - like at a bad wedding reception. I asked for a particular bourbon and he said, "no we don't have that". Offering no alternatives, I had to ask him what he did have. Irritating. He never once checked in with us to see if we even wanted a second drink. He seemed irritated even when we asked for the check. Because of him and his poor attitude and service, we opted not to have dinner there. I would not recommend this restaurant based on the way he treated us. We had a lovely dinner down the street at Fresno's where we were treated warmly. While Cittanuov had a cool vibe, I would not waste my money there based on his poor service.
