The Deer Watch is a lovely bed & breakfast in the northern Catskills. It lives up to its name, with deer regularly congregating in the field across the way; there's also a pair of ducks that have taken up residence at the pond. Did I mention the pond on site? It has a little pier with patio furniture and is a great place to relax.
Jo-Ann is a wonderful hostess! She makes amazing breakfasts, and was accommodating of my food allergies. She was also very helpful in orienting us to local attractions, although her hand-drawn maps could be a bit confusing. Fortunately, she also had an ample supply of tourist brochures, which, when combined with her wealth of local knowledge, did the job.
Our room (the "Mary Iris") was comfortable and welcoming. Jo-Ann warned us the bathroom would be small, and it was--the house is centuries old, and there's only so much rearranging that could be done with the space.
Overall, a great experience--we'd gladly stay there again if we go back to the area.More
