Peace and quiet in deep wilderness

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 Aug 2016
The location is great by nature. A lot of place to see and go hiking. The water park is pretty good. The hotels rooms are outdated and lack a good ventilation. But food was great. Many different choices and all good quality.

Nice and relatively clean pool area. Not too crowded by the time we visited. Seems the pool area is rather new or recently renovated. I expected something old but was rather suprised by fresh and modern facility. Staff was friendly and pool bar a nice surprise. Changing rooms were a bit of a dissappointment but like I said the place was not too crowded. We visited this water park just in the end of high season so less tourists but instead lot of local people were enjoying the pool too.
The hotel room was with window facing the pool area. I recommend this place to families with children, for them the place is perfect.

There are 2 pools, mineral baths (nothing special) and 4 sauna: stream sauna, 2 Finnish sauna and infrared sauna. Swimming pool is OK, saunas are not in the high level....Very basic and the unexpectedly low level compared to other Estonian Spas. Rooms in Spa Water Paradise are in absolutely basic level, the room decor reminiscent of a willage hospital rather than the hotel. It need to be decorated better! The walls are horrible painted, the cupboard was broken. Windows of the rooms are predominantly in the direction of the indoor pool and is not gated, some of the rooms windows are missing at all.... The lunch and breakfast offered in the Sanatoium house - about 300m to go, but there is nice nature and parks and the lake :). Unfortunately the food wasn't testy. Värska is very nice and special place to go, but .... Price for the room in Water Center + lunch and breakfast and saunas + pools = average for Estonia.

Room tip: take a room with windows! :)

Nice waterpark with Lots of different things to do. Nice saunas , like steam sauna and regular Finnish sauna and few different mineral water hot tubs. Nice pools with different jets to get a nice massage.

Room tip: Higher floors have better view of the lake.

I have booked and stayed in Junior Suite room. It was a nice room, but it needs a little refreshing. Had a balcony with the sea view. Overall very nice room. Breakfast was not good at all. Not much of a choice. SPA is also a bit modest. Sadly there are not much of a competition in this region, so the property is not very motivated to upgrade.

I recomend for everyone, and especially for families with the children, to visit this countryside Spa Water Paradise in Varska. For those who love beautiful and wild nature for relaxation and vacation. I recomend package deals for room and included spa privileges for use of the 2 pools, mineral baths and sauna use daily. I purchased a package deal for 35 euros per night. For healing treatments, there is an additional spa building that is close buy- not more as 100 meters away, and this spa offers very good treatments, You can find on the internet the different packages for massages, saltroom, etc. I recomend you first research by internet all the packages, and then call and talk with Varska Spa - their staff are very helpful. Remember, there are 2 buildings: one is the Spa Water Paradise- where I had a room, plus use of pools, mineralwater baths and sauna (recently renovated to a high quality standard) and there is a second building, the Varska Spa Sanitorium for different healing treatments.

In Estonia, most young people know English, In major towns, English speakers will not have any problems with communication in English. In the Estonian countryside, most older people do not know English, and that can be a little inconvenient, but it is generally easy to find someone who speaks English ready to help nearby, and they often do voluntarily. Estonia was recently rated Number 1 in English fluency as a second language in Europe.

I love this area (southeast Estonia) and spend time there enjoying the countryside and nature. You can go to the forest and pick wild berries, herbs, mushrooms (they are rated organic),and Lake Peipsi is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing, etc., and the Varska Spa is located on the lake.

I recomend to everyone that you go and explore the Varska area. Those who would like to have a more rustic experiences, can have it too, by finding accomodations around the Varska area that features small farms, guesthouses, bed and breakfasts, etc., that offer rooms and board for travelers.

Room tip: Rooms are comfortable and very clean; beds are very confortable, and bedding is very clean. Bathrooms are very clean and everything worked. Rooms have spacious desks comfortable for computer or paperwork. I recomend that you ask the receptionist about rooms with views or sun exposure, and what rooms might have the least amount of noise, All the area around the spa is quiet, natural, and you can hear birds songs when open the windows, which allows fresh air if you prefer. You can walk through a pine forest to Lake Peipsi from the spa, and this is a wonderful nature walk in and of itself, and the fresh air is invigorating, filled with the sweet smell of flowers and honey and bird song.
