I'm leery of b + bs but Alexander hamilton house has won me over.
It's comfortable---good mattresses-very important to me.

The owner, Tom has just the right combination of attentive service +
discretion. I do hope to come back.

Room Tip: The bridal suite was beautiful but overheated P.S. We didn't have any brides.

I stayed here for a photography workshop in the area and had a great 4-night stay in the Turret room. There was plenty of space, it was comfortable and private. Tom, the owner, is super nice! You absolutely cannot miss his breakfasts! If you stay more then one night, every morning is a new fine dining breakfast experience - you'll know what I mean once you stay there. I highly recommend staying here if you are experiencing the Croton-On-Hudson area for what ever reason. Enjoy!

My husband surprised me with this nice romantic getaway in NY. Its a hundred year old victorian mansion that has many antiques and beautiful spacious rooms. We stayed in the Library room on the first floor and that has a big bedroom (comfy bed) with ensuite bath and a seperate living room with a sofa, tv and fireplace! There's a computer and telephone with free long distance for everyone to use. The best part is the scrumptious breakfast each morning made fresh! We had french toast, fruit, juices, omelettes, etc! There's also outdoor space with a pool and beautiful views. All in all a great deal!

My sister and I each rented a room: I had the Garden Room and she had the Turret Room; both were on the second floor. The beds were quite comfortable, although I wouldn't recommend the squeaky day bed in the Garden Room. The room appeared quite cramped with the day bed anyway, although it worked out quite well. The bathroom was large and, in the Garden Room, it was attached to the room. Other rooms had their own bathrooms, but were located across the hall or adjacent to the room from the hall. The pool was large (unheated) and at 9 feet deep, quite a treat from other hotel or B&B properties. I loved the lawn chess and from the adirondack chairs near the pool, there was a nice view of the distant Hudson River. My only criticism was that there was no protein served with the breakfast. The challah french toast was perfectly prepared and was served with fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and juice, but no meat, eggs, nor yogurt for protein. I'd like to come back in the summer to enjoy the pool. Our host was wonderful (he lived in the next house) and a notebook detailed the history of the home and offered sightseeing opportunities. There were a couple of wonderful restaurants only a 10 minute walk from the property. Bring a flashlight if walking back at night, though; the streetlights were few and far between.

Room Tip: The Master Bedroom suite was gorgeous. It had a whirlpool tub, skylight and a stained glass window above the tub. It was a wood panelled room. The other rooms were closer together and I heard the t.v. of a nearby guest well into the late evening. The Garden Room had an attached bathroom, but a lot of the other bedrooms had bathrooms either adjacent to their bedroom from the hall, or across the hall. Those rooms had bathrobes provided. The Library Room smelled musty, but it was very large and had a separate living room with a beautiful leather couch.
