The trailer was well laid out and organized, and had everything we needed, It was spotlessly clean. Access to the site is easy. Everything worked - the air conditioning, the heat, the plumbing, the TV. We loved the covered patio with the Adirondack chairs and the view of the lake - the view was an unexpected treat. The store was handy for ice, wood, and basics. The staff were friendly and helpful. Cathy answered many questions over the months before we came, always informative and patient. While we were there Cathy and the other staff were always available and helpful. The atmosphere was friendly and we felt safe. It was a great get-away.

Room tip: Trailer #3 has an amazing unobstructed view of the lake.

Just stayed at Shadow Brook the week of the 4th. We had a full service RV site.
There’s a reason they have “family campground” in their name.... it’s great for families and they treat you like family.
The sites, grounds and facilities are very well maintained by the hardworking and very courteous staff and the owners, Frank & Cathy.
They genuinely want you to enjoy your stay and will do whatever is reasonable to make sure that you do. If you’re looking for an upscale resort like atmosphere then this place isn’t for you .... this is a campground the way a campground should be. Do n’t get me wrong, it’s very nice, very clean and organized. They just do a great job keeping the camping in camping.
I honestly can’t imagine how anyone could give this place a bad review unless you’re not looking to camp but rather be catered to in a “glamping resort” and you went there expecting something other than what it is (shame on you for not knowing- the info is clear).
We’re seasoned campers and have been to all types of campgrounds from basic to glamorous and this is one of our absolute favorites in the traditional and genuine camping experience category.

The location of the camp is superb. It’s nestled in the beautiful rolling hills and countryside in solitude but close enough to many things that make your stay great, fun and easy.

The camp is located very close to Glimmerglass State Park which is a GEM of a park with great facilities and a pristine lakefront guarded swimming beach.
Come out of the campground and make a right, drive straight for 20 minuets and you’re in downtown Cooperstown with all it has to offer.

One more note on the people you are dealing with at Shadow Brook....
They take pride in ownership and work very hard and long in order to make sure your time there is special. They treated our children (4 in our group) so kindly... the kids just loved seeing Cathy in the store (she was so kind and patient with their frequent browsing trips to see her). They also run a very safe campground ... fair but firm rules keep people, especially little ones, safe and having fun.
Frank works his but off keeping the place running right. He was on a shovel making repairs on the hottest day of the year so far. A job he probably could have delegated but took on himself.
My wife had a serous medical emergency and Frank & Cathy were fast to make any arrangements and accommodations we might need in case things got even more difficult in dealing with that type of thing so far from home. They offered their help in any way they could and it was so genuinely offered.
These are very good people that very good business. So do yourself a favor and give them a crack at your business. You won’t regret it!

I've been going to this campground since I was a little girl, and never had a negative experience. Cathy and Frank, owners, are extremely personable and accommodating. I love that I never feel like I'm in a rush here, as there are not events lined up for every hour of the day. While those things are nice sometimes, Shadow Brook offers real relaxation and quality family time. My favorite place, by far.

While these campgrounds are beautiful and offer amenities such as a pool and corner store, I unfortunately cannot say I feel the same about this campground after a few disrespectful encounters with one of the owners. If anyone has gone camping with a family of 4 kids, you know how much they look forward to it and how much work goes into packing, setting up, and tearing down. Unfortunately our week long vacation was cut short by three days due to feeling unwelcome and as if we were required to walk on eggshells to avoid another visit by the owner. The guests themselves on the grounds were great people, often coming up to comment on our puppy or say hello to our kids and even saying goodbye before leaving. Likewise, we offered to help others find their site and offer assistance with trying to tarp a tent to stay dry.

Yet we were quickly approached one morning and blamed for a recent two star review because this said review had mentioned dogs (plural) barking as one of many nonsense complaints of other things. We were then instructed to keep our dog quiet, when in fact, he had only barked once as the owner approached quickly on his golf cart. When we explained that he hadn't barked until that point and has been extremely well behaved other than barking here or there at passing people or dogs
(as any dog typically does when protecting their family) we were told that it was in fact our dog and that some people like to sleep until 10am, therefore he needed to be kept quiet.

If you are going to advertise as being dog friendly, both owners and customers alike should expect to hear the occasional bark here and there as much as you would expect to hear a baby cry or child yell. If a dog is incessantly barking and not being corrected, or if it's in the middle of the night, I completely understand, but that was not the case at all. There were people one site down from us up until 1:30am yelling around a fire drinking and never once did we complain. The same occurred last year when we went, yet we still came back and never once blamed the owners. And yet we were blamed for a review from something that had nothing at all to do with us and spent the next couple days saying "shh" to every single scream, cry or bark that anyone of our kids or dog made out of fear of being blamed for something else. That's no way to spend a vacation, let alone at a campground.

Perhaps the focus of the owners should be on the customers who are coming back yearly and helping to create a great family atmosphere rather than making assumptions and talking down to a family regarding their 9 month old puppy who was only complimented for how good he was by anyone who passed by - all because of one bad review. That action alone earned you another bad review.

In conclusion, we are deeply frustrated and disappointed that our vacation was cut short over an owners careless attitude towards his customers. There are now four families that stayed both last year and this year that will not be returning.

We started out camping here off and on. We could tell right off the bat that this camp ground is a great family place. We decided to become part of the family and became seasonal. Come stay at this great family camp ground, Cooperstown Shadow Brook.
