We stayed here the evening of the last day of the 2016 season. I'm not even sure we should have been able to make a reservation because, after the season, the hotel is open only for conferences. Because of that, staff was light and some of the "normal" items that come with an in-season stay got a little confusing.
But... The staff was great, the lack of full staff did not impact our stay, and this is a wonderful example of a grand Victorian hotel that still soldiers on with class. As we sat on the front veranda in rocking chairs while taking in the beautiful lake views, we felt as if we had been transported back in time 125 years.
Our room was large with a view of both the lake and the institution's grounds. The period furniture fit well with the whole ambiance. The bathroom was large...really large. Sure, the floors creaked, the room air conditioner was a little noisy, there could have been more seating in the room. But... You come here to enjoy the institution and stay in a fine hotel that recaptures a bygone era. Done and done!More
