Our waiter was Michael. Very good and attentive. We had the port chop and mac n cheese. The chop was tasty but a little solid. Mac was excellent and had grilled peppers in it and didn't realize there was hot red pepper in it. Uncomfortably hot. We should have been told. We also had the wild salmon filet - excellent. Served with tomato jam on top and potatoes and string beans.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and an enjoyable dinner. The menu was small but offered variety. The French onion soup was delicious. We came to dinner at 7:45 and the special was sold out.
We would visit again.

Within walking distance to the Canandaigua Inn so we would go back for the convenience but not necessarily the food. I ordered the beet salad with grilled chicken and my husband ordered the burger. The food was good but we were expecting so much more for a Culinary Institute. They do have a limited menu so look it over before you sit down. Our service was very pleasant but it seemed like everything took a long time from our drinks to our food. The setting is very nice and does overlook the lake.

A good but not great overall experience; this was our second visit to the Upstairs Bistro for lunch. Our group of four ordered for lunch one quiche and three salads topped with chicken or salmon. No major disappointments with the quality, preparation or presentation of the dishes, only the lack of depth of the offerings on the menu. Our expectations for a menu of several imaginative dishes went unfulfilled. For those with limited budgets be advised that wine servings are a bit pricey ($10-$11 per glass of wine), as are the prices of the main entrees, which ranged from a low of $14 for the quiche to a high of $21 for the salad topped with salmon. For our group, the culinary highlight was the fresh-brewed, deep-flavored coffee served at the conclusion of our meals. It was good to finish our meal on high note.

We had lunch here as part of our visited to the NY Wine and Culinary Institute. Service was slow on this Tuesday and, as another reader mentioned, the soup came out with the entrees. The outdoor dining was great, the meal on par (though less costly) with the Culinary Institute of America (dined there a few weeks earlier) and, as expected the wine list was wonderful and varied.
