The Taos Art Museum in the one-time Nikolai Fechin house is a "must" when visiting the city. At $10 for adults, it is worth it to step back in time and get a feel for what living in Taos was like when the art colony was first becoming established. Fechin's paintings, as those of the other artists represented, are all very interesting. But the real star is the house itself, from the period kitchen, to the carved wood details, to the magnificent fireplaces. Anyone who is an aficionado of Southwestern architecture owes it to themselves to spend an hour or two here, soaking in the atmosphere.
