This was third year we rented two rooms at the Taos Inn while attending the Michael Hearne Big Barn Dance music festival. We especially like the courtyard rooms for the quiet and the restful courtyard, but main building has rooms as well where we have stayed and been surprised how quiet they are considering their proximity to the bar and live music. They have live music every night with talent that competes with the music festival on the next block.

Room Tip: Loved rooms 101 and 315, but this is a historical inn so don’t expect luxury of a big city hotel.

Stayed here for the second consecutive year while attending Michael Hearne's Big Barn Dance. Last time we stayed in the main building and this year had a courtyard room. While the ambient noise was reduced, overall the room was not as attractive and the noise from the AC sounded like a jet plane taking off.

The hotel was comfortable, clean, and the staff unfailingly polite and helpful. The location is central to the Plaza are and within walking distance of much of what the town of Taos has to offer. We slept well (when the HVAC was off) and enjoyed our stay. We have already reserved our room for next year. The Inn is historic and no two rooms are alike. Bathrooms tend to be on the smaller side.

One issue is that the Inn is getting a bit pricey. They do offer a 4 nights for the price of 3 special which makes it reasonable. We were told that rate would not be in effect during next year's barn dance. This renders the Inn expensive considering the level of amenities offered. The location remains prime, however.

There are certain quirks to the hotel (you have to get your ice from the bar or the front desk, the lobby and main house are also the bar area with live music nightly which can be loud if you are staying in the main house) which you will either embrace as part of the overall ambiance or charm or will annoy you. Know and appreciate what the Inn does off and enjoy.

My wife and I recently spent a single night at the Taos Inn. They exceeded our expectations on all levels. The staff was welcoming and went above and beyond to help us settle in.Our room was very nice with view and access to a beautiful courtyard. Doc Martin's served an amazing brunch the following morning. If traveling to Taos in the future, Taos Inn will be our choice.

Room Tip: The rooms in Helen's House are great.

Staying at the Taos Inn places you right at the heart of this small town, just off the main plaza. There are a number of room options, either in the main building or off beautiful gardens in the back. There is music in the bar area every night and they offer the best nachos around! The Taos Inn provides you with a true southwest experience.

It’s been many years since I visited the Inn and the this historic hotel still doesn’t disappoint!
Centrally located to galleries, boutiques, wonderful restaurants & the Taos Plaza, it couldn’t be an easier place to stay. Hotel parking is conveniently located just off the Paseo del Pueblo Norte in the back of the Inn with walk ways directly into registration. Charming little gardens are located thru out this “in town” property. Rooms are nicely appointed with Southwestern decor and little kivas (fireplaces) in most. Beds are very comfortable with extra pillows and “light” comforters. Showers have wonderful hot water with a strong spray. Evening music on weeknights/weekends are really good bands and doesn't run too late (9:30 pm on the dot). Doc Martin’s a wonderful restaurant is on sight but unfortunately doesn’t serve breakfast. However, the Bent Street Grill is just across the street with many early morning selections to choose from and many coffee/pastry shops are all around.
