The Blumenschein Home and Museum was open on a Monday which is unusual for a museum . I grabbed the opportunity to visit and it was worth my time. The building itself was interesting to see along with the artwork. Plus there is an exhibit of current artwork on display and for sale. Take your checkbook with you as there were several paintings of superior quality.

Visitors get a double benefit of viewing some great Taos Society art in the home of one of the Society founders. Blumenschein and his family lived at this site for many years-gradually building their home out and buying adjacent property. The Buck Dunton “cottage” is next door, however was not open and did not seem ready to receive visitors.

I estimate that about 15-20 impressive, original Taos Society paintings were on display, which was the main attraction for us.

Cost was fair and street parking was available a short walk away. Recommend.

the Blumenschein Home is a great look into the past of the Taos art community and the formation of their guild. After visiting here and viewing the vistas from the back porch it is clearly understandable how Georgia O'Keefe and the Taos art community has come to love and venerate the Taos area. Magical and a great look into life in the early times of Taos art culture.

One feels the very atmosphere, the stillness, present in the home those many decades ago as though it's enveloped in a permanent siesta.

We love his work and as one of the founders of the "Taos School" someone interested in the genre should see where he lived and painted. Both his wife and daughter was also very accomplished artists.

Guess we spent an hour plus there and loved every moment. all very well done.
