Tanda Tula Safari Camp
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 14 November 2017

Well I must admit that I was very reticent about having to zip up each time we entered the tent. However, my travel agent convinced me that this experience would complement my next three nights in a regular suite elsewhere, in so many ways. Was my travel agent right!
Tanda Tula was a great experience. First off, the tent was perfect. Bed, lighting, bathroom, shower all great. The online pictures accurately depict the room and the room was equipped with insect repellant, eye glass cleaners, fabric totes, canteens, lip balm and a host of other well thought out amenities. The outdoor shower had very strong water pressure.
We really enjoyed the group experience for meals. All 12 couples ate meals at the same time with the exception of a range for lunch. We all sat together for dinner, along with hosting staff members, with shifting venues. We all got to know each other which made for interesting meal conversations as well as during down time during the day. Breakfast in the bush was really special. There was a great assortment of items and many staff around help serve as well. Chef Ryan’s meals were better than out our other reserve. He paid complete attention to even the smallest of food preferences. The “loo with the view” is immaculate so no worries ladies!
We always thought about how we would use up the day but we never found the time to read or watch any of our downloaded videos. We enjoyed relaxing around the pool with others and in the main lodge area. We only napped once.
Our Ranger Civilized and Tracker Glen were amazing. We learned a lot from Civ with regard to the importance of reading tracks and how to read the demeanor of the animals we were approaching. We got to see almost all animals on our list with the exception of wild dogs and leopards.
A couple of weeks before arrival I arranged to surprise my husband by renewing our wedding vows for our 40th anniversary. Viv wrote back to me immediately and even called to help me plan out this surprise. Brittany was also instrumental in co officiating this event with Thabo and staff who sang for us. What a special venue for a special event. This will forever be a fond memory.
Do not hesitate to book here.

Room Tip: We requested the tent closed to the main areas as it had wifi from the main area.

Tanda Tula was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, we were treated with first class service. Every employee treated us with 5 star service. We loved our tour guide Marnus and our tracker - Glen. The drives were an adventure and we saw so many amazing animals. We loved to see the tour guide and the tracker excited about seeing the various animals and shows that each day they love and appreciate their job and they are having unique experiences. The days flew by, the morning drives were early and the day started at 5 am. From 5:30 to 9 was the morning drive with a stop for coffee. When we arrived back at camp breakfast was waiting or they had a nice set up near camp. After breakfast, we would go back and take a nap and relax until lunch at 2. Lunch was always spectacular but a lot of people did not eat lunch. At 3:30 were cocktails and coffee before the evening drive from 4:30 - 8. And then a quick change before dinner. We loved that breakfast and dinner promoted people to eat all together and we loved hearing the guides stories. It was nice talking with other folks and getting to know people from around the world.

The tent exceeded our expectations. We loved the experience of sleeping in a tent and we were lucky to have a rain storm at night to make the experience more unique. The attention to detail within the tent was incredible and they had thought of everything that we would need. We loved the morning wake up call with coffee and biscuits.

The food was 5 star. Every meal was spectacular and we definitely gained weight. The chef would tell us about the food for lunch and dinner and we could see the love that he has for cooking and appreciation for great food.

We were on our honeymoon and on multiple occasions made us feel special. They put rose peddles in our room, provided us a nice candle gift to set the mood, and treated us to a personal dinner in the gazebo. We had a unique dinner show with hyenas tracking down and impala and having their dinner when we had ours. We had dinner with a show. Maybe gross to some folks but we enjoyed the show and is a dinner we will remember for a lifetime.

We will recommend Tanda Tula to everyone and we can't wait to come back!

Thanda Tula is a very special place. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff are super efficient and so friendly. The chef Ryan goes out of his way to make the food delicious and caters for special dietary requirements. Our ranger Luke was incredibly knowledgeable and we learnt so much from him and his tracker Jack. Plenty of beautiful spots to relax and unwind. The luxury tents and camp is open and wildlife are literally at your door step - incredible. Would highly recommend this spot to locals and foreigners.

Exceptional safari experience. Tents were awesome and well-appointed, communal lodge space had a very authentic feel. Staff was exceptional: Errial (thank you for making our private dinner on the balcony so special!), Harry, Dale, Hailey, and many others all made us feel at home and went out of their way to make our stay great. Game viewing amazing - guide Scotch and tracker Patrick knew the terrain like the back of their hands and were great at finding game. Evenings social and a lot of fun. Last but not least, chef Ryan was absolutely fantastic. He was clearly very passionate about his job, and his awesome meals reflected that. We highly recommend to anyone seeking an authentic safari experience
