What a great stay at Greenfire lodge! The place is really luxurious, in the middle of the bush, with private houses made of glass, feeling that we are sleeping in the middle of the wilderness! The food was absolutely delicious and everybody was so friendly and welcoming. I could have stayed there forever!
I really appreciated the game drives, the guides were really respectful and had amazing eyes to spot the wildlife. I love the fact that the whole philosophy of the lodge is to be close to the wildlife and to respect it, not getting it of the beaten tracks to avoid destroying flora and fauna. We were only 4 is the car, which was so comfortable compared to the other packed vehicles we crossed. The price is really nice for everything that is offered.
Thank you so much to everybody working at Greenfire.
This is one of the best place I’ve ever stayed!

We had three great days in the wonderful Greenfire Game Lodge! We had a fantastic little house for ourselves with a great view on the dry river with all the animals. Food was very delicious! The tours with our guide Sam were great. We saw many lions on these tours. The Bushwalk was also a very nice experience.

Booked here by our safari operator so didn't know much about it other than this is a more "luxury" place. However that doesn't quite describe the most outstanding feature of this lodge. The rooms here are individual units of glass and steel, each set against the hillside with a view of the river below and surrounding woods. Nothing like being able to watch the wildlife across the river while lying in bed or taking a shower. In addition there is also a huge covered deck to lounge on while being entertained by the most colorful birds in the surrounding trees. All units are set far enough apart to provide almost complete privacy. On accommodation alone, you can't get anything more unique and amazing - the place is simply unrivaled and deserves a solid 5 stars rating.

Food is fresh and well prepared. Breakfast made to order, lunch is buffet, and good menu selection for dinner. The spacious public area, lobby bar/dining room is built above the guest rooms, tables set for 4, large wrap around porch with additional seating, a couple of flights of wooden stairs leading from there to the small pool below and rooms. Staff courteous and friendly, management however seems uninterested in interacting with all the guests.

A few things to note:
--no in room wifi, only in the lobby and not very fast
--no coffee/tea making facilities in room (can get it from the dining room but not easy to carry back to the room down all the stairs)
--in room safe is tiny and you can't set your own code - combo is room number which doesn't make much sense
--no fan or aircon in room - not a problem when we were there as the temps were perfect in October
--on afternoon game drives they stop for a sundown cocktail - orders taken after lunch. Be sure to confirm your order before drinks are distributed as they don't bring spares. If someone who didn't place an order takes your drink you will end up without one (may seem unlikely but happened on one of our stops)
--game drives here don't go off road so could be frustrating on occasions when you wish you could be right under the tree where the leopard is hanging out

Many thanks for your complimentary review of Greenfire Game Lodge. It was most unfortunate that an elderly guest accidentally picked up your Gin and Tonic on the game drive and that you reacted so badly towards him. He was deeply apologetic for his mistake and your disproportionate and ongoing response culminated in me not charging you for any of your drinks throughout your entire stay here, despite the fact that neither myself nor any of my staff were responsible for the error. This was simply a case of an elderly gentleman who got a little confused. As far as driving off road is concerned, it is our company protocol not to venture off into the virgin bush because of the pressure it puts on the animals and the damage it does to the environment. Responsible tourism and respect for the environment are the two reasons that we don't subscribe to chasing wild animals through the bush. I hope that you can appreciate that?

A friend and I just returned from 2 nights at Greenfire Game Lodge where we were visiting as part of a combo safari. The accommodation at Greenfire is nothing short of stunning. Beautiful, private rooms with decks looking over the river where you can see birds, monkeys and impalas around the clock. The food was fantastic, drinks reasonably priced and service generally great. We found Crescent, Kim and Saskia particularly helpful. The only slight downside for us was that after coming from Kruger, the game viewing was a little disappointing. Obviously the animals are wild and you can't always know where they are, but altogether on 3 game drives we saw 3 of the big 5, whereas in Kruger we saw the 5 almost every day (we did sleep in on the last day when they saw a leopard...) It's also worth noting that they do not drive off road to see animals. I do totally understand and respect their reasons why. I'd definitely recommend Greenfire as a luxurious, relaxing part of your safari trip in the greater Kruger area!

We stayed for two nights as part of a package tour and could not be happier. From the welcome by Kim to the warm farewell from both Kim and Adrian everything was perfect. Our room was modern, clean and well appointed with a beautiful deck overlooking the riverbed. In the mornings we had elephants just below this deck, it was awesome. The chef was informed that I don't eat red meat so he prepared beautiful fish dishes for me. The game drives were amazing. On our first drive we saw 4 of the Big 5, only missing the buffalo. The leopard was incredible. Our ranger was lovely as were all of the staff. What we really appreciated was the ethics of this lodge. The will not drive off road as it is damaging to the environment and stressful to the wildlife. Neighbouring parks do this therefore we were thrilled that our tour included Greenfire and not one of the others. Kim and Adrian and very knowledgeable and passionate about their work. I would not hesitate to recommend this reserve.

Room Tip: We had room 4 which was perfect
