Description: Field & Fork derives its name from the culinary vision of bringing locally sourced quality produce from the field to your table. Chef and owner Francois du Rand serves these ingredients with a great passion for food and a dash of French flair. Field & Fork is located in Swellendam's heritage area and forms part of the Drostdy Museum. Steeped in history and oozing character, this restaurant brings you modern style bistro food with panache. The menu is small and changes often but caters to all palates. Our wines as our food, are only sourced locally from award-winning wineries. Welcome to the Field & Fork.

Set in a lovely old house in Swellendam, apparently one of the oldest there, is this quaint little restaurant. Do not let it fool you that it looks like an old, run down house. You are in for a big surprise! The food there is delicious, and really worth the visit to Swellendam. We had the delicious duck and I went for Dom Pedro for afters. It was a lovely evening. We will visit this nice place again.

We had a lovely evening here. We were mischievously welcomed by Paulette and she continued to make our evening a delight. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. If we are in Swellendam again, we wouldn't hesitate to revisit.

Thanks to the team for a nice evening. The service is very attentive & friendly, the food is excellent and the prices are more than ok ....., you def get what you pay for.
I cannot agree to the recent review of the "Michelin-star-guy" from Cape Town - the portions are not too small, the prices are not too high and everything is fine. The wine list is short, but offers a few very interesting positions. For example - 385,- Rand for Sijnn Red Blend 2012 is a really fair price.
I really had a great evening and hope to return soon, thanks again!

Having worked in Michelin Star and owned my own restaurant I feel qualified to comment. The setting is great and the staff are attentive but that is where it ends...
My fillet was I assumed was ordered off the kiddies menu and it couldn't have been for me as medium is not well done! Alas it was for me... Soldier on then... It was a kiddies or ladies portion and I did my best to make it last... The waitress assured me this is the portion size??? The owner was not in and evidently cooks once a week while guests from abroad suck up these exorbitant prices for very little return on value. I found a Cafe in town where I was able to find some food to eat to fill the gap... TOURIST TRAP - BEWARE!!!
