“Home comforts in wonderful Franschhoek”
Reviewed 7 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We had a very enjoyable fortnight at Rubicon Cottage, with friends staying for 5 days. It is a very comfortable and homely house, with spacious bedrooms and living area and a fully equipped kitchen. The jewel in the crown is a lovely outside area, with plunge pool, braai and sitting/eating area, where we spent most of our time! The cottage is situated in a small gated development within walking distance of a supermarket and the excellent Franschhoek restaurants and shops. Colin and Maureen were very helpful in sending directions and suggestions on places to eat.
Our only slight criticism is that there were no written instructions on how to operate the cooker, dishwasher, TV, dimmer lights etc. There also seems to be no way of getting in or out of the development on foot without using the remote gate control -- a bit of a nuisance when there are 4 of you and only one remote. But these were small problems, which did not spoil our enjoyment of wonderful Franschhoek.

The cottage is located away from the road. This makes for a peaceful and secluded location. It was clean and well presented, nicely furnished and very comfortable. Everything that is required for a self catering holiday is available, including an awesome South African Brye (Barbecue).
The area is a wine lovers paradise! Many of the vineyards also have restaurants along with a vast choice, not only in the local village, but also further afield.
Cape Town is about an hours drive away, we did several day trips including Robben Island and Table mountain. Well worth the effort! Also check out the penguins at Boulders Bay. There is also a local motor Museum with an exceptionally good collection of historic and modern cars.

“Charming Rubicon Cottage”
Reviewed 27 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We spent a very pleasant week in Rubicon cottage. The cottage was beautifully decorated well equipped and very comfortable. The pool area was a super sun trap but for shade there was a lovely covered area with comfy sofas and dinning table. It was a nice place to sit during the day and also in the evening. There is decking at the front of the cottage with a table and chairs. A place to enjoy the afternoon sun and good views. The cottage is well situated for restaurants shops and wine farms are all close at hand. It is a perfect place to stay and enjoy a holiday in Franschhoek.
