A quaint accommodation near Franshoek, so it only makes sense to stay here if you are visiting the area. Franshoek has a good selection of restaurants, from Japanese to Italian and of course, French. Breakfast served at Basse Provence was great, came in decent portions and was reminiscent of home-cooked meals.

Basse Provence is situated amidst sprawling greenfields, so pack a windbreaker as the winds can get be quite chilly even in summer.

We stayed in July during the South Africa winter, and it felt like the house isn't really set up for cold weather. Heaters were provided, but we had to put them on full blast and it didn't feel very cosy. No insulation. Gardens seem lovely but, again, not much use in winter when it gets dark at 5pm!
Also, quite a lot of noise from the road, not great for light sleepers.

However, good location for visiting wineries and dinner in central town (car is essential). And nice breakfast.

Good afternoon
Thank you for the review of Basse Provence.
I am so sorry it was a little cold, definitely Franschhoek is a nicer place to be in the warmer months.
I appreciate receiving reviews such as these as they make us aware of faults and grow as a company. I shall be looking at more heating options for people like myself and maybe you who feel the cold.

I do hope you will get to visit us again in the summer months when you will enjoy the gardens and the pool.

Regards
Cassie

We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing stay at Basse Provence, it is indeed a magical place with cozy bedrooms and a wonderful breakfast. Friendly country hospitality at its best in a very beautiful surrounding.

We had a pleasant stay and the guest house is very conveniently located, with easy access to all of Franschhoek's attractions. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the complimentary wine tasting at the sister property, Rickety Bridge

We spent one night at Basse Provence. We were a bit underwhelmed at first but decided that the simplicity had its own charm. If you want peace and quiet and to be left alone this is the place for you.
