Convenient location, needs overhaul pretty bad, don't step on the carpet barefoot, make sure you have sheet between blanket and you, bathroom amenities leave a lot to be desired. The only positive thing is a restaurant on premises convenient for dinner and not to have to drive. Breakfast is absolutely awful... don't see spending more than one night there

We have stayed at this Howard Johnsons a few times in the past and it's a nice hotel. This time we were in town as I was running the Seaside Half Marathon. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is near the mall within short driving distance of Seaside Heights, and the mall. Christopher's Bar and Grill is a great place to eat and hang out. There is the Grove Restaurant and IHOP in a short walking distance. The soap and shampoo in the bathroom weren't that great but we bring our own so not a big deal. Overall it was a nice stay.

Low budget hotel. Stayed overnight. Hotel needs a major overhaul
Lobby was nice and homey
Bathroom is old (shower,toilet,sink)
Rug is dingy it needs to be shampoed.Bed was hard as a rock
When I checked in and handed my credit card I was looking around she left my card on the counter
If I hand you something it should handed back to customer not left on counter. We didn't bother with breakfast we ate@ IHOP

We stayed in a non-smoking Queen, on a Fri and Sat night in Oct. We were visiting family in nearby Lakehurst, NJ, and HoJo's was a bit less expensive than other hotels which were closer. In the past we stayed at closer hotels, but I wanted to spend wisely this time, thus we ended up at HoJo's. WE ARE VERY HAPPY WE SELECTED THIS HOTEL. The convenience of having everything, an indoor heated pool, an onsite gym, an onsite restaurant/pub, and a cont. breakfast. They also have in room coffee makers, mini fridges and microwaves, make this perfect for our visit. Now granted, this is not a 5 star hotel, it is a Howard Johnson with THE NICEST STAFF, from check in to every staff member we encountered in the hallways, nothing but pleasant and helpful. We had dinner in the rest/pub on a Saturday night, the food was decent, but I will say the service was a little slow, HOWEVER that's because the rest/pub was packed with locals. The room isn't perfect, the caulking around the toilet could be repaired, maybe the painting of the room wasn't top notch, but again, we weren't looking for a luxury hotel. Our room was at the end of the hall, right next to on of the entrances. Yes, we could hear people coming and going, but we couldn't hear them while they were in their rooms or taking a shower. The payoff of being located right next to the exit was worth it to us. All in all, I honestly have NO complaints. The hotel manager checked on us while in the rest/pub, AND when I was at the front desk requesting an additional pillow. When in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to book a room here.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the entrances are always. BRING YOUR OWN/request extra pillows, as the pillows provided are "skimpy".
