I haven't been here in about four years, yet time stands still at the Summit Diner. The short order cook and owner. like Dorian Gray, have not aged and it is still one of the best places in the area for breakfast. Eggs cooked properly with six slices of bacon; toast with a healthy smear of butter - no butter pats - and excellent coffee. Service is with a smile in this small eatery that boasts six booths and counter stools. Be prepared to wait in line outside on a Sunday morning because the locals queue up for a Sunday breakfast. Ham and eggs with hash browns is another winner. The menu also covers a wide variety of soups as well as entrees such as meat loaf, chicken and steak. Bit it's breakfast that is the great draw. It is small, in the style of an old railroad car and most important, spotless. A true blast from the past.

Good food for a throwback diner. Limited seating can make it tough on weekends. Best for breakfast. Haven’t tried it for dinner.

Have spent countless number of weekend mornings in this nice little retro diner on the New Jersey transit commuter train line back in 2000. I was very happy to see that not much had changed since then. Still excellent pancakes and good size servings at a very reasonable cost. Can seriously recommend this place as a small town USA experience for everyone. Only one hour out of New York Penn Station.

This is one of the classic NJ diners, and the structure sets it apart from nearly every other diner in the state. This place was built like so many of the original diners and delivered to the spot, this one by the Jerry O'Mahoney diner company which was based in Elizabeth NJ. The Summit diner attracts a lot of the towns people especially on the weekend, so its almost always busy, you might have to wait a bit or grab a spot at the counter. Food is pretty standard diner fare, BTW they don't have menus everything they prepare is posted on a board on the wall behind the counter. Its good, the service is fast and its worth a try. Also Cash only, no CC's.

They do a terrific job, wonderful eggs great hash browns. Prices are reasonable which leads to await on occasionally! I really get a kick out of this place!
