We had a great sushi meal and they were able to easily accommodate dairy, peanut and tree nut allergies in our party.

This place is nice and right by the bay. I have been here seceral times and has awesome rolls. This last time it seems their signature rolls were much smaller and maybe they are cutting back. Also food all came out at once instead of staggering it. Severe were nice and they have indoor and outdoor dining which is nice. Good place but may be less that it used to be.

I wish I didn't even have to give it one star. Here is a timeline of events for our disaster of a date night. We had heard good things about Bay Ave Sushi and we're excited to try it out.

- 7 pm reservation on a Monday. A MONDAY people.
- Stand around in tiny area between door and hostess for a long, long time while watching a fly repeatedly land on someone's sushi roll that is sitting atop the sushi bar waiting to be picked up by a server.
- Continue standing for a total of 45 minutes after our reservation until we are finally given a table. Remember that 7 pm reservation? Apparently it is worthless.
- Server is friendly and apologetic. Takes entire order and leaves.
- Actually brings the fried shumai dumpling appetizer in short order. It is terrible and clearly tastes like it is right out of the CostCo freezer bag and straight into the fryer. We continue to wait.
- And wait...
- And wait...
- Two tables that sat after us are given their rolls.
- We wait some more.
- Finally at 8:40, over an hour and a half after our reservation, we have to physically track down the server and the hostess and ask her what could possibly be taking so long. The hostess insultingly tells us that because we ordered the toro sashimi, it is holding up the order. Not a chance.
- We tell them we are starving, they have ruined our evening and we are leaving.
- They still charge us the $5.25 for the shumai. Class acts.
- We walked down the street a few blocks to "Tavern on the Bay" where we quickly got a table, drinks and some outstanding appetizers to salvage the night.

We stopped in for a quick lunch and sat on the small deck. The server was attentive and the sushi very fresh. I went by the counter to check out some other fish and the sushi chefs were happy to answer any questions. Their prices are reasonable and the portions average (6 piece salmon avocado roll, not huge). It is BYO so that would be good at night if I had my favorite sake. Worth the stop.

This is real, serious - true Japanese fare - in a cute, quiet atmosphere where you can relax & take your time and eat great food. so, go relaxed, please, with plenty of time... A good spot for a special date - or small gathering in the side room. Very nice. BYOB. Hint: bring a good bottle of wine with you - like a white Montrachet... They'll have toro, uni, Kobe B., - check w/ the owner - if she'll order for you - be prepared to be turned down on occasion - after all - its Somers Point - not NYC or Tokyo. This is the kind of place where you can sit at the sushi bar and say "surprise me" - its serious.
REAL Chicken Yakatori ... nice... the chef will peak out from the kitchen to see who's ordering - and look you straight in the eye - its serious - Tony Bourdain would say... "oh, - that's good..."
Be careful... its serious... they serve scrumptious Walu - if your tummy can handle it... I do get a little "tummy" from walu - but I can't stay away from it - they do a good job. Hey, its serious... go! You'll love it.
