Went there a couple of months ago with Beautiful Dining Companion (BDC). Went on a Sunday night after taking in a show at Count Basie Theatre. Place was empty, not a good sign in my book. Place is a BYOB. Brought with us a special bottle of wine from a winery in Napa Valley. Individual who claimed to be the owner opened it for us, in doing so broke off the cork in the bottle. Told us that cork was dry. Started with a light appetizer, I was good. BDC order baked pasta, I order pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe. Baked pasta dish was something like the hot lunch special in a high school cafeteria. My entrée was luke warm, with maybe 2-3 bits of broccoli rabe. The sausage looked and tasted like it was Jimmy Dean breakfast food. Ugh. Service was laughable, our waiter looked like a cast member from My Cousin Vinnie, like it was hey, you guys want some bread. There a plenty of good restaurants in Red Bank, NJ area, this is not one of them

The outdoor tables were filled, so we sat inside. We enjoyed listening to Sinatra and ethnic music. Service was quite good and the chef even made a special request meal for my daughter. Our appetizers and meals were all tasty. I would've given an overall 5 except some of the dinner portions were smaller than others. The waiter was extra attentive when we were ordering dessert due to my son's nut allergies. He went back to the kitchen twice to check on ingredients. Very nice! You can taste the gelato flavors before ordering if you want. Yummy stuff.

The service was extremely good and the waiters were attentive. We had salads that were different and extremely good. Our entrees were also excellent. I ordered the shrimp with spinach. The shrimp was done to perfection. Other dishes at our table were lasagna, pasta, and veal with Bolognese sauce. All good. To cap off the meal we had their home made gelato. Excellent. We were also treated to an after dinner drink.
The restaurant was a few blocks away from the mainstream so it was quiet, which was lovely. We'll definitely return again.

......of walking by this restaurant we finally decided to go with another couple. I heard from a neighbor just before we were leaving to go that the restaurant had changed ownership but the chef and most of the staff remained. The restaurant decor is not much to talk about. You enter through the informal café section of the building and then go into the main dining room (this should be changed somehow). The main dining room is fairly bland but very comfortable. (There is also outside dining on a bricked patio between the building and the sidewalk). The tables are well spaced which is a major plus along with the fact that it is a BYOB. Large floor to ceiling windows look out onto the main street of the town. The setting sun was hitting us in the eyes and the host/main server went outside and moved an umbrella to shield us from the strong rays.

While we looked at the menu we enjoyed the crusty and tasty bread and olive oil. For appetizers we had two specials: Italian wedding soup and a salad of baby spinach, goat cheese, walnuts and cherry tomatoes. Both were excellent. The other couple had fried zucchini and the Spinaci e Fragole salad consisting of fresh strawberries, goat cheese and almonds in a bed of spinach. The zucchini was so-so but the Spinaci e Fragole was the hit of the table. For entrees I had "Involtini alla Palermitana", thin sliced Chicken rolled with ham and cheese & side of arugula and cherry tomatoes - very good. Two others had the Chicken Francese, chicken in a buttery lemon sauce served with side of sauteed spinach - the chicken was average fare. the spinach very tasty. The fourth entrée was Spiedino di Gamberi: grilled shrimp skewers with a side of sauteed spinach. The 8 good sized shrimp were grilled perfectly - another very good dish.

All in all, a very pleasant evening. Although a couple of the dishes did not fully live up to expectations we will be back. Tab for the four of us was $119 plus tip.

We just returned from a vacation in Sicily. In searching for a new restauant to try In our area, we found Sicilia Cafe in Red Bank. We enjoyed excellent appetizers, pastas and fish dishes and capped the night with outrageously good gelatos. Our waiter, who is from Rome and has vacationed often in Sicily spent a good deal of time with us chatting about his experiences and ours. We recommend Sicilian Cafe highly for its menu, service and excellently prepared food. An added bonus is that you may bring your own wine.
