“Seems like a great place to exercise”

Johnson Park is a wide, skinny green space that winds along the Raritan River. A bike path runs the length of the park. There are man-made ponds, sports fields, a horse track, and even a zoo and a restored village. There are plenty of picnic spots and clean restrooms. What I would have expected from a park that runs along a river is a trail/path along the water, but it only goes along the river in a few spots. The zoo is a bit underwhelming (deer, llama, pigs, goats, chickens, peacocks, turkeys, rabbits..), but would be fun for young kids. It wasn't a particularly fun place to "explore," but I think it would be a great place to run/jog/bike!

This is all that is left of a busting, important port and industrial complex.

It's a great place for archeological digging, but no one seems particularly interested.

Johnson park is an amazing place to take the kids for a walk, or to get out and run or bike. With miles of paved trails I keep coming back for the scenery and safe environment to run in.

Back in the late 90's, this used to be a park where my family would go, have a barbecue and just enjoy the summer day. The playground was great, the little "zoo" was very children friendly and the tennis courts kept the adults busy. I recently drove past thru the park and its changed (in a good way). Looks like they've upgraded some parts, mostly the area by the river and it looks great! I definitely need to visit this summer and relive some of those memories.

The entire park is beautiful, from the jogging trails, playgrounds, picnic areas and zoo. My family and I love coming here, we even brought our cat here, he wasn't as pleased as we were lol
