On a recent trip to Cape May, in the aftermath of a once in a lifetime snow storm, I stayed for three days at the charming and stately Abigail Adams. Eschewing my usual motel choices, I wanted to be right in the heart of the Historic District. Frankly, didn't know what to expect of a private apartment, and was really pleasantly surprised. All the amenities were first rate, a Queen size comfortable bed in a well appointed bedroom, beautiful restored bathroom with Victorian style fixtures and tiling, a decently sized eat in kitchen overlooking the charming snow covered gardens in the rear. It even has a private entrance just off of tree lined and gas lit Decatur Street. Though its called an apartment,, it is more like staying in a large private one bedroom suite in an upscale historic inn. This would be a great place to stay in the summer for a vacation in Cape May, as the beach is less than a block away, and great restaurants and theater are just a short stroll across the pedestrian mall. A real find!

We have been vacationing in Cape May for many years & every year we pick a different B&B or apartment to stay. We discovered the Abigail Adams garden apartment on line and went to see it in person and meet the owner last spring. It is perfect for 2 people...a kitchen, sitting area, 1 bedroom and bath. That's all we need to enjoy our 1 week stay. We parked our car in the designated lot where the owner had gotten us a parking permit & we left it there for our entire stay. The Abigail Adams is in the center of town where all the action is taking place - shopping mall and beach are only 1 block away, so we walked or rode bikes everywhere. The owner, Kate Emerson helped us out with any problem or question that we had. She is lovely! We also had access to the backyard with a charcoal grill. It was a great stay!

We have been vacationing in the garden apartment for the past four years. We enjoy the place so much that for the last two years we extended our stay to two weeks. The garden apartment on the first floor has it's own private entrance, a full size kitchen/dining area, a living room with a pull out couch, and a full size bedroom and bathroom. There is full access to the private backyard, with use of the gas or charcoal grill. You are one block from the outdoor shopping mass, and one block from the beach. When we get to Cape May, we park our car in the designated lot (Parking permit obtained from the owner) and literally leave it there for two weeks. We walk or travel by bike to anywhere we want to go. The owner, Kate is a very gracious and helpful person whom we have come to know and love over the years. She is a very large reason why we keep returning year after year. When you stay at the Abigail Adams house, you are in the middle of everything that goes on in the town and at the same time, you are as isolated and relaxed as you can be. We consider it our home away from home, and will continue to vacation there for many years to come.

Abigail Adams B & B by the Sea is really a lovely Victorian house located on one of the most beautiful streets in the Historic District of Cape May. We have stayed in the First Floor Garden Apartment for five summers in a row, usually for two weeks...(Cape May is so lovely, one week just isn't enough time!) The location is perfect. One block to the beach, ten steps to the shops, restaurants and gazebo. The apartment is VERY clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is convenient, serviceable and modern. Abigail Adams Garden Apartment is the quintessential "seaside cottage," and the owner, Kate, is a gracious hostess to her guests. My husband and I would never dream of staying anywhere else when we are in Cape May.

We stayed in the 2nd floor appartment. There was only one a/c in the bedroom, facing the TV, so we had to move the TV in order to cool the room. The kitched had a box fan, so all it did was blow hot air around.. not very comfortable. The worst of all were the ants... ants were all over the kitchen. It was disgusting. I was unable to prepare or eat anything. So we only stayed one night and checked into the Palace Hotel for the remainder of our vacation. Thank you Palace Hotel for saving our vacation experience.
