My husband and I have hiked up and down the mountain twice now! The pictures we take are nothing compared to what the naked eye sees! What a beautiful park! There is many different trails and I do suggest you do your research before hiking to find out what trail is right for you based on your overall health and physical abilities. The observatory at the top and is a great spot to relax for a bit! They do have food available but cash only! Also a post office and gift shop are located there too. The food was good. Bathrooms are available and we're clean. There is a spot to purchase tickets for the cog train if you don't feel like hiking down.

Took the Cog Railway to the top of Mount Washington.. WOW! The views are just fantastic! Great views on the way up and down. Friendly knowledgeable staff.. Tickets are pricey but understand the maintenance and beauty of the Cog Railway. Glad we made the trip!

This was my first visit. It was way better than expected since it is only 6,200 feet. I've been much higher in the Rockies, Sierra Nevada, The Himalayas, Hawaii, and the Alps, for example. But the views on the way up and down were great. The top was pretty cold and in the clouds, so we had no view during our visit to the top.

Loved the Top Hut, the visitors center and the museum. I would imagine the cog rail up and down would be fun as well, but we drove. I appreciate the effort they take to have good services up top in normally harsh weather. I would do this again, possibly hiking up and staying.

The cost to drive up is a bit "steep", but it must cost a lot to maintain the road and facilities.

We took the auto road to the summit, where the view is spectacular even on a foggy, misty, rainy day. Great little museums and historic sites at the top, and the drive up had plenty of places to pull off, rest your brakes and enjoy more history and gorgeousness. This is a must-do in New Hampshire.

Beautiful, tough hike with breathtaking views. Well worth the exertion. Stay in the Hermit lake shelters if you don't want to rush, as hiking from Pinkham Notch and back in a day will be tough if you have to drive far to get there. However, make sure to appreciate the hike itself, because the summit is terrible. You'll have to wait in line behind dozens of people who drove up even just to summit the mountain. There will be crowds of tourists and you will resent all of them for taking away from the glory of this mountain with their large cars and small crying children. Stop to eat your lunch before you summit, because you'll just be frustrated eating your freeze-dried rice and beans while the tourists chow down on hot pizza from the snack bar. Don't litter and if you see any, pick it up. The least we can do is hikers is protect the natural beauty of the mountain (excluding the summit, that's lost already) from the rest of our species.
